1979 ford 3600 worth

Ok, I will revise my estimate a bit; if I was posting this for sale, I would probably go ahead and list it at $6000. Now, I certainly would expect to get a bit less, but it is a good looking tractor. All depends on how quickly you want/need to sell. Another thought, im assuming it costs nothing to own it, so, if your not getting bites at $4000+, maybe just keep it?

Thanks, I try to take care of my equipment. It needs a bath and waxed. Probably will do that this week after I service it. I don't need to sell it. I usually use one of the cab tractors now. But still run it about once a month. Spent a lot of time on it growing up. Just started thinking it's to nice of a tractor to just let it sit. Maybe someone could get better use out of it. But would have to go to someone that would keep in under roof when not in use. Still on the fence if I will sell it or not. Definitely not going to give it away. Going to have someone from new Holland come look at it. Maybe they know what I should ask for it if I decide to sell. I will post more pictures after I clean it up. Just has dust on it from sitting in the equipment shed. Thanks again for your replies.

So, on servicing... You will not make more based on a service. Think about it from buyers side. You just bought a good looking, running, 40 year old tractor. Sure, the guy you bought it from "says" he did a full service; you, me, or almost anyone is going to do a Full service anyways, so we have a base line. With that, a "full service" I mean hydralic fluid, oil, filters, and possibly coolant. At times, you might even be suspicious, "Why did this guy just change everything, is it cause there is a problem, like water in oil, or something".

Now, if it needs an oil change, thats different, but I wouldn't really want to see brand new oil when I check it, as a buyer

Not doing the hydraulic system. Just engine oil and filter. Fuel filter. Change them every year. We service and clean all are tractors and hay equipment. Take the tension off the belts on the round baler. Things like that. But see what your saying.

The blue and white Fords are popular in Virginia, and your 3600 has been well-kept. The smaller Thousand Series Fords are great utility tractors in my view. I would take lots of photos from all angles and maybe post them on Craigslist/Facebook Marketplace/? with a $6,000 asking price.

Personally, I would hold on to it, but I am admittedly biased towards this series of Fords.

I know I would love to own it, it's about time to upgrade the 2N! That being said, tractors around here are listed at the high end of what i'd consider fair. Especially fords and JDs. So I could see $7k asking and settle a bit less. Then there's the guy who thinks he has the last tractor on earth and wants 10k-12k.
I agree to just do the oil change if it needs it, but leave everything else. When I'm eyeing up a new purchase, clean freshly serviced is a red flag. I want to see the old fluids, smell the oil for coolant or gas, see the even later of dust so I can see that there are no leaks etc. the dirt paints a picture on how it was used. If it's completely caked in mud then I know it wasn't really taken care of, but a nice even later of dust tells me you do wash it, no blobs of grease, no leaks on wheel bearings, brake parts, hydraulics, etc., just in the usual spots like on rear remotes, or loader pins etc.

That tractor is worth what you paid for it new.
They hold value, especially one in good shape like yours.
Put your $$ on it and advertise it. Someone is looking for one!
