We find similar in the Hospital… very rare to younger excellent staff accept or seek management…

Often overtime and extra hours shunned… a lot of younger RN seek 3 or 4 day work week…

Good for them! So much more to life than work, work, work. If you can support yourself on 3 or 4 days a week, go for it!
Not many people go to their graves wishing they'd spent more time at the office.

This is similar to the position voiced by area transients… doing just fine collecting aluminum cans and scavenging dumpsters… no need to be a cog in the machine…

Maybe they are smarter…?

Employee working 20 hours per week gets the exact same benefit package as the employee working 40 hours per week… i.e health plan, 401k, etc…

Pet Peeve: Magazine subscription doesn't expire for seven months, but we are already on our THIRD renewal notice.

So I forget, and send in the check, again. I then look to see my expiration date is like 4 years away. When my folks passed, I see they did the same thing when I cancelled their long extended subscriptions.

When I was an apprentice sprinkler fitter the foreman told me to go clean the break area, pick up the cigarette butts and the food scraps on the floor, I told him that is not my job because I didn’t and wouldn’t throw trash on the floor.

He said later that day our superintendent was coming to the job and he was gonna have a talk to him about me, I said good, when he’s done, I’m gonna have a talk with him about you, he said don’t worry about it. Let’s get back to work.

As a supervisor, I would never accept an employe telling me 'that's not my job', assuming the task was not illegal. "My Job" is normally performing tasks that needed to get done, not necessarily only the jobs that I want to do.
I'm not just trying to offend you and your ideals, but I assure you, your name would be at the top of my cut list, should that need come up.

Employees like that always make the decisions easier, when the company forces a down-sizing of your department. The other is whiners. A whiner who does good work might keep their job as long as things are going well, but they're the first one out the door when upper management pushes a staffing reduction requirement down on you.

That's not fair. I do good work. I'm calling the labor board. You guys are mean. I should be getting a raise. I only missed 2 days last week.

Here's my peeve of the day...I offered to help these two young ladies with their tractor and they said "Get away you old bald grandpa!" Or something like that. My hearing aids need batteries. "Maybe it's out of gas" I said and they said "I'm sure you have enough for six tractors!"...so I left.

The only time I heard this is in a Union Shop and I actually got in trouble working outside my classification.

Steward said politely refuse… but it goes against my nature.
