So now I am trying to put the chain together but can’t. The master link holes just do not line up, just couple of mm off. Even though the chain is not under any tension. Any suggestions or tricks how to accomplish this? thanks

I did finally took out the master link and removed the chain , cleaned it as best I could. Now the next step is 1: try to reinstall the same chain 2: get a new chain and replace the old one. Not sure if the old chain is still usable or not. i do appreciate all the replies and help. I am a...

Only problem is that I can’t seem to budge any thing. The chain is under lot of tension and tensioner is is stuck in present positio and I can’t loosen it.

That is what I am trying to do. How do I release the tension on the chain? I released the spring holding the tensioner but nothing happened. So I guess I will have to get the sprockets off along with chain and try to reset it as mentioned above.

I have had this tiller for 25 yrs. Bought it second hand. This is the chain it came with. The chain is not meshed properly with the sprocket. That is what I am trying to fix.
