    TYM mechanical thumb working limits

I just put a mechanical thumb on my TYM BY85 (equivalent to Branson BH150) backhoe - but I can’t find specs for a working weight limit on the setup. Does it hurt anything to just keep wrestling with rocks, roots and stumps until I overcome the hydraulics, then back off and try try again?

    T574H Hydraulic Top Link

I am still learning categories, tbh. I know the 3P rating is 3,000# - 4,000# and the tractor is 55HP. Does that help?

    T574H Hydraulic Top Link

I measured out my manual top link and there don’t seem to be any hydraulic offerings with similar dimensions. Is there a brand/model you T574 owners found to work? Max: 28-3/8” Min: 18-3/8” Bushing bottom: 55mm (2.163”) wide, 19mm (0.75”) pin Bushing top: 42mm (1.653”) wide, 19mm (0.75”)...

    Bent pins: fix or replace?

    I can’t find these same pin sizes to save my life! BY300-240001 - 25mm dia X 90mm long (~1” x 3-1/2”) BY400-440000 - 20mm dia X 215mm long (~3/4” x 8-1/2”) There seems to be every size in these diameters except what I need. Dealer came back with $126. 😮 Without a press, I have this redneck...

    Bent pins: fix or replace?

I think the pins are a softer material by design. I have a unique redneck idea I’m going to try and will post back here. 🤞

    TYM BY85 Backhoe Boom Speed

Near idle - 1500 rpm. And, I’m ginger on the controls, so… not that either. Here’s an experienced operator with the same setup.

    TYM BY85 Backhoe Boom Speed

I was thinking I’d put restrictors on each of the two incoming lines for maximum tuning ability (I’d start with 1/32” and drill them out until it was where I liked it. The thing drops like a rock, but the raising speed didn’t seem as bad. I found some 1/4” restrictors that I could put on the...

    TYM BY85 Backhoe Boom Speed

Has anyone installed flow restrictors on this model backhoe to slow the boom down? I’m trying to figure out if it matters where in the flow path I install them and what fitting types (JIC?) I need to source.

    Bent pins: fix or replace?

This could have happened during shipment. I didn’t force any hydraulics too harshly when pulling them, but I do admit I was a first-time operator when removing them… figured it was me and they must just be really soft metal. Doesn’t appear to be any damage and machine works great. 🤷‍ I’ll see...

    Bent pins: fix or replace?

I guess it doesn’t take much to bend the isolation pins for the boom and swing arm on a BY85 backhoe; it seems TYM may have made these with softer metal on purpose. Would you guys bother looking for a machine shop with a press to straighten them back out, did you buy your own press or do you...

5 hours of use and leaked hydraulic fluid on my driveway 🙄

Worked with it this last weekend and didn’t lose a drop. My conclusion is, I put the dust cap on too tightly on the male hydraulic fitting and the hose completely drained on the driveway. The tractor was positioned in a downward trajectory to facilitate this. Using that UV light, it’s the...
