    Starlink

Wire is always going to be better than wireless unless you have mobility or access issues. The only reason WiFi is popular is because it's expensive to run Ethernet everywhere & you can't wander around with a wire plugged in easily. Wireless is less reliable, less private & shared rather than...

    Trailer question - skid steer

From what I understand its only an option when its built & first registered. OEMs won't mess with re-rating them once they leave the factory or get sold.

3-Point Hitch L6060 with 78” titan offsett flail mower

Peruzzo brush bull 2200. 86" & 1,500 lbs. A bit big for my L4060, but I've put 600+ hours on it. It will side shift to hang 3' beyond my right tire. I wish I had the extra 20hp of a L6060, but not enough to upgrade the tractor or downgrade the flail.

    Replacement drill press recommendations?

A mill has been on my to do list for a while. I picked up the Precision Matthews 1340gt back in 2018. Pretty happy with the Tiawanese quality over China quality on it. A mill has been next on my list since then. A decent looking (at least on Cragslist) Bridgeport seemed to be arooun $4-5k...

    Replacement drill press recommendations?

Why don't you just rain on the parade. Looks like I won't bet getting a new drill press, lol. Didn't even think about the fact the shank went into another taper that is in good shape. I can deal with the belt alignment issues & swapping belts for now. Will probably keep an eye out for a good...

    Replacement drill press recommendations?

I have a 17" Steel City drill press. I replaced the chuck because the old one was having issues. The new one is having issues staying on as well. At this point the taper on the arbor is rather chewed up & was likely the cause of the original chuck issues. Pulley alignment has always been a bit...

    Trailer question - skid steer

Ratchet straps will chafe or cut if they rub on stuff. I cut one half way through early on cranking it down on a bar stock grill guard. It wasn't even sharp, but did damage to the strap. I generally use chain & binders for all my machines & implements now. I still use straps for other stuff or...

    Your last generator Maintenance Run

Fired up the generator in the 5th wheel last night. Had to spin it 4 times I think. It finally caught & ran fine. Hadn't started it since the fall & we have a foot of snow falling today. Wanted to exercise it & make sure it was working if we loose power.

    Trailer question - skid steer

If you are buying the trailer new, you should be able to get it derated. Factory should happily put a smaller number on the tag to keep you legal. May be free or a cheap option.

Travel speeds flail mower vs brush hog

A dull blade mean a ragged cut. A ragged shattered stump is something you can drive over fine. A sharp stump can spear your tire. Sharp blades or knives are better for a lawn. But if you are doing any rough, brushy, or small tree mowing you want dull blades or hammers.

Travel speeds flail mower vs brush hog

My Peruzzo brush bull flail is 7.2' & weighs over 1,500lbs. It has heavy hammers on it. Will chew through wrist to almost forearm sized scrub oak. I'm generally running out of HP on the 40hp Kubota L4060 rather than flail capacity. Although cutting like that I'm creeping along. Normal grass...

Travel speeds flail mower vs brush hog

Flails mulch more than a rotary. The extra mulching eats up a bit more HP. If you are HP limited a flail will cut slightly slower than a rotary. I hate a 7.2' (2200mm) flail on a 40hp L4060hstc. Usually cutting 2+' grass or brush. I'm limited by HP. A rotary would be faster, although I'm not...

    Rototilling price per hour

I have a 40hp cabbed machine & pile of attachments with a truck & trailer to haul it all. Along with all the proper commercial insurance. I generally quote jobs at $100-125/hr. 2 hour minimum. Some regulars fer billed by the hour. Most people get a fixed price quote. Make sure to include...

First time plowing with SSQA plow, float mode just digs into the driveway

Same. I've tried ABS & PVC. Neither lasts minutes. Not sure how people make that work unless they use some steel pipe.

Kubota L2501 Turbo: A Journey Defined - The Tractor, The Comparison, The Modification, The Results

The limit on the loaders on economy Ls is the amount of rear ballast to keep the back end on the round, followed by the front axle, primarily the bearings. Bumping up loader capacity on the loader is just fount to break things & roll the machine.
