Hey folks! Long time no post. I recently bought a Kubota grand L5030 (45 PTO hp 50 @ the engine), 4x4 with loader, R 4's and the rear tires are ballasted with Calcium.. weighing in at around 6500lbs I'm guessing.
My questions are: Do you think it could pull an 8' disc? The R 4's leave me...
Yesterday I punched out 58 bales from my neighbors field, and got 53 today from a field down the road. All in all I'm really impressed with how well the Ford 1715 handles the baler. I know it's not the right tractor for the job, but it didn't seem like it was struggling.
It's been a good season for me so far. Cut and raked two fields totaling at 4.5 acres, and just landed a nice 3.5 acre field to hay yesterday! One of the fields I cut is EXTREMELY rough, and beat the crap out of me, the tractor and my new rake... probably won't be haying that next year.
The...
I ended up buying a IH 47 baler from a guy up the road that "had a knotter out of time" for $200! Got it home, spent a few hours tinkering with it, and cranked out my first few bales ever! I was making short bales so I didn't have to run a ton of hay through it for testing purposes. I'm more...
I got the baler in pretty good shape for the most part. One big problem though, it looks like the pickup cylinder isn't designed to be taken apart, or serviced. It's like they assembled it from left to right, then welded the right end plate to the tube. One of the pickup finger bars has a...
I got the baler home, and gave it a good pressure washing. Got it all lubed up, and cycled it by hand. It was really cool to trip the knotters, and watch it do it's thing turn by turn. Most everything is in decent shap with the exception of the pickup cylinder. I'm pretty sure I need to rip it...
Well, I finally found what I thought was a decent deal on an old baler. Paid $150 a IH 46 from a local guy, was barn kept it's whole life, until two years ago, where it was under a tree. It hasn't been used in about ten years, but was used and well kept before it was parked. Everything is there...
I've been looking around for a long time for a baler with the Wisconson motor, or NH 65 since my tractor is a little small to power a 14x16" baler. Most of the self powered balers I'm finding are wire, not twine, and are going for pretty cheap in "good working condition". NH 65's are almost...
I'm planning on starting the build on my canopy, that will eventually be a cab, and wanted to get some ideas on what ya'll have done. I plan to build the frame for the canopy from 2x2" .120 wall, and leave the opportunity for framing in a partial or possibly full cab in the future. I'll ad some...
Spread 30 yards of fresh wood chips in our paddock. The horses are happy! I spread 30 yards a few weeks ago, and one more load should just about cover the whole 1/2 acre paddock.
Also got to attack some more blackberry bushes with the brush hogg. This schit is not fun to eradicate. I have a...
We sold the goats today, so I tore down the pen and moved the goat shed next to our barn for additional hay storage. Now I finally get to clear the land where they were, and create more pasture for the horses next spring. Man it feels good to clean this area up. Our three acres feels a little...
Well, I just bought a AKTIV sickle bar mower (sat in the weather for 5 years) and a parts mower, and a spare blade for $50. I never heard of AKTIV, but figured what the heck. The price was right, and worse case, I could always use it as yard art. I'd really love to use it to cut hay though...
I'd love to add a remote, but have very little info on how to do so. I saw a thread on Yesterdays Tractors, where a guy was able to fab up a manifold type block that allowed him to tap into the case just above the axle, but mine looks different from what he had. I've found no other information...
