    Horse fence question

Yes, that would have helped. So... the wood fence in front of the house, will it need to contain the horses also? Or is it JUST a house fence?

    Horse fence question

When I ordered 2x6 16' long from McCoys, they were all 16' long. So we spaced the posts 8', and staggered the rails. No need to cut or trim, and certainly no need to space a post closer. If you're not getting the length you order, don't accept them. Red Oak may be great, but it's not available...

    Horse fence question

Luckily, no gnawing at all in almost ten years. I did have one board kicked in half by a visiting horse, but other than that, no issues.

    Horse fence question

I say this with -zero- knowledge of Hemlock, so perhaps it requires some treatment that I'm not familiar with. Having said that... I have about 5,000 feet of horse fencing, and I didn't do anything to it. No paint, no stain. I find that if you do anything to it, then at some point you have to...

WHAT ARE YOU USING TO HAUL YOUR UTV

I use a simple 6x12 tandem axle trailer. Ranch King (not sure if they're local to TX, or national). Cost around $1,000, back in 2015. I had a local welder add some tie-down loops around the frame, since there weren't many good places to hook the straps. Good luck!

    Firewood rack

Looks great! Better than my little jury-rigged setup. We only get about 10 nights a winter where it's cold enough for a fire...

    Compressor & Air Hose Question

I have no experience in air hoses, so I ask from inexperience... I have a small pancake-style air compressor, a Porter-Cable 6 gal, 150psi electric. Works great for what I use it for, mostly tires (cars, trailers, tractors, etc). I keep it in my barn, and lug it around where I need it. Between...

    Show us your bench!

Just built a new one last week, so it's still virgin. And will never look like this again! It's 8' long, 30" deep. I used the leftover plywood strip (the 18" cut) to make a bottom shelf.

New Barn: Lights--8' fixtures vs shop floods (50x50)

I have a new 50x50 tractor barn/workshop that is almost finished. Time to put lights in it. This is a metal bldg, 50x50. About 12' high walls, rising to ~17" in the center. I figure I can put one of two main types of lighting: Either fluorescent type fixtures (4' or 8'), or those round...

Removing Small Trees & Shrubs with a Tractor

I have a nice grove of Live Oaks that I'm looking to clean under. It has several small trees & shrubs growing underneath, none larger than 2-3 inches in diameter. Can I pull them out with my tractor? I have a Deere 4105, about 42HP. I'm thinking of using these, one for the small trees, the...

    Compact Tractor Manure Spreaders

We use a manure spreader that attaches like a utility cart. I can hook it behind our Mule or ZTR. Works amazingly well. Cost around $750 new I think. I'm sure it would attach to a tractor easily.

General "getting started" questions about building a barn

Just closed on a new property, need to build a barn, and I am looking for feedback (and an education) from y'all. I have some general questions first, and then I can start to develop a more detailed plan (and come back with more specific questions). At my old place, I had a 25x40 open-sided...

Buying new JD4105; do I want quick attach? Also, seat upgrade?

New tractor delivered on Friday. Still wearing that big grin! Took my old iMatch off and put it on the new tractor. Your advice (along with others) was spot-on. Thanks! Ok, I'm ready to do this. Just 2x4s, or do you put a plywood deck on the 2x4 frame? Did you do this with your...

Buying new JD4105; do I want quick attach? Also, seat upgrade?

I am going to pull the trigger on a new JD 4105 next week; just waiting on the trade-in value on my JD4110. I'm getting an H165 FEL, MX6 cutter/shredder, and having them add a third SCV Kit so I can use a grapple. My 4110 has the JD quick connect (iHitch?). Makes hooking up the shredder a snap...
