International 484
Hello everybody,

I have an international 484 with some leaking hydraulics. I am absolutely clueless on repairing these and would love some advice. It seems to leak from where the hoses inserts into the fitting, notice how its cleaner around there. What do you guys think I should do??

Thanks in advance!

First thing I'd do is clean that up real good. Spray it down with degreaser and wipe it down and get it CLEAN. Then figure out where the leaks/drips are. If it's a crimp fitting, take the hose somewhere and get a new one or have them make one. It's it's a thread that's leaking, might be able to tighten or apply some pipe dope and reassemble.

Do exactly what CH4Ohio said.
If that doesn’t work, I would say your tractor side couplers are probably shot. I have had to replace several of them on my tractors over the years. You can rebuild some of them if you can get the O-rings and seals for them.

Quick disconnects have O-rings in them that can damaged over time. If you have local hydraulic shop remove one of the O-rings and take it there. They should have tools to determine size and potentially have replacements in stock.

I hope you clean those prior to unhooking and re hooking. Either way you will need to clean them to find the leak.

It's pretty basic stuff to ID the leak area, clean it then test and watch.

Thank you guys for the responses, I have a feeling it is the tractor side couplers not the hose side. Just from the picture could anybody tell what size they are and give me a link to a replacement from either tractor supply or rural king or heck even amazon.

Also any reccomended degreaser for cleaning the hydraulic gunk off

If you don't have anything that says "degreaser" on it, then just spray any cleaner on it and start rubbing all the crap off the hoses and fittings till they're clean. It's all coated with dirt and debris and crap -- doesn't really take a specialized cleaner. (Though I admit, I did say "degreaser" earlier . . . )
