Ford 545D shuttle shifter woes

Hey, all. I'm wondering if anyone has a solution for shuttle shifters that aren't the $700 OEM replacement
The issue is totally with the shifter stalk itself. It's pretty intermittent with both forward and reverse and jumps out pretty often. I had become accustomed to simply holding it in place but now that's also sporadic at best. I've had it apart and tried to reshape the metal that actually completes the circuit on the contacts, but it's not much better.
Any ideas, or do I just bite the bullet?

I'm not familiar with a Ford 545D. It sounds as if you tractor has gears for reverse not hydraulic shuttle? If that correct I would be suspecting wear in gears &/or shift couplers in correlation with shifter controls.

Technically, it’s just a toggle switch on/off/on (plus lockout?) would take a little splicing and fabbing ….

This will work for that shifter. You may have to rewire, but that isn't difficult.

If it has the 8x8 transmission with lockout, you could put an extra button somewhere else to activate. Most people don't use it though
