Why are batteries suddenly so expensive?

So, can we say pollution started "back when" fire was discovered? I'm not a historian, so the when doesn't matter to me. I think you'd be hard pressed to find someone who doesn't pollute in one form or another. It's a natural occurrence due to progress.

I saw a Duracell group 31, 950 CCA battery at Sams yesterday for $126.12.

That's a pretty good price for a battery that size.

Yeah, I get that. my point was directed more at those who seemingly think that they can throw stones, while living in a glass house.
I know my actions towards pollution have changed since the "wild 70's", (no more dumping oil/antifreeze into storm drain)
trying to do what I can do to lessen my footprint, but Ill always be a polluter, like everyone else.
