I need to replace cylinder seals on my BH75. The prices for these seal kits from Kubota are very high, as I am sure that many of you already know...

I am looking to find a source to purchase the seal kits at a reasonable price... I last replaced the seals in one of the swing arm cylinders and the other side blew out soon after... I figure that I will need to replace all of the seals in all of the cylinders (boom, dipper, bucket, and stabilizers) in short order...

I would really like to avoid paying the Kubota prices... Does anyone have any suggestions for a source?

Apparently BH75 was not a popular model as it is hard to find much for it... BH70 and BH77 kits are not compatible as far as I can see...

Thanks in advance,

Mike

Hydraulic shop. That's where you go to get seals. Either take the old ones and have them match those or take the entire cylinder and have them do it.

For just the seals, I wouldn't expect much above $40/$50 and that's on the high side.

Thanks for the reply ptsg. Pricing in hydraulic shops around here isn't very good. As an example, I needed to replace the seals on the bucket and boom cylinders on my LA463 recently. Price for seal kit at Kubota was around $145 per kit... best price I could find at hydraulic shop was $120 per cylinder (and that was to just match up seals from an existing one, not to do the replacement...)... I lucked out and was able to find seal kits for my LA463 Front Loader on Amazon for $17.00 / kit. I have no problem with doing the replacement myself, just don't want to pay through the nose for the seal kits.

When I purchased the seal kit from Kubota for one of the BH75 swing arms, it was around $220. Right now, the same kit is listed at $309!

I think that the hydraulic shops (at least around here) have figured out what the dealers are charging, and are pricing just a bit below...

If you can measure and identify all the seals, maybe ordering from Hercules is an option. Hercules Sealing Products

They do have some kits available, but only for the BH70 and BH77. Nothing for the BH75.

Thanks again. Yes, I had been poking around the Hercules site recently. I just submitted a request to them on one of the pages. I figured that I would give it a try, but I don't know if they want to mess around with a "one off" for some random guy with an odd backhoe.... we'll see...

Last Kubota hoe I did was on an old B20 (BT750), and Kubota wanted $200 for just one cylinder. Got all I needed by size out of the Hercules catalog. Less than $90/cyl for what I needed. Prices there are up, too.

Thanks for the reply, dfkrug. I think that I will try to work through the Hercules catalog, see what I can figure out...

Maybe this catalog from Hercules will you help a bit more. Basically shows the various seals available and a cross section of it, which should help identifying them.

dfkrug - I am very much a novice at cylinder repair -- am able to replace the seals if I have a seal kit in front of me. Trying to find the individual seals in a catalog like Hercules seems very challenging to me at this point. Here is a photo of the BH75 Swing cylinder seal kit:

On BH75 Swing, rod diameter = 25mm and cylinder bore = 50 mm.

Can you give me some guidance on what each of these seals are called?

(Head seal, Rod Useal, Piston seal, Rod wiper, o-rings, etc.)

I know that this is a lot to ask of a 'stranger on an Internet forum' but if you have the time I really would appreciate any guidance you can provide... (I really need to get this backhoe functional and can not afford the Kubota prices for seals!)

Thanks in advance!
