Tractor
Kubota B2320
When not in use, I park my tractor in a carport with a gravel floor. It's a Kubota B2320 that I bought new in 2014. I am starting to notice quite a bit of rust on the tractor and am wondering if this is normal for being storing on a dirt floor, or has Kubota paint quality gone downhill.

Would love to hear how you all store your tractors and your issues & solutions to rusting or preventing rust.

30x60 insulated barn. It's never seen a drop of moisture since it came off the truck.

I park one in my 56x40 barn and two in my 40x30 barn. Both have cement floors.

Thanks. Any issue with snow melt coming off the tractor when stored?

Mine was stored in a garage for its first 8 years, and the last 2 in a pole barn with concrete floor.
My last 2 tractors got all exposed steel clear coated when new, and they didn't rust at all.

Under a shed roof on the side of a barn on some thin gravel. It's a 2011 and no rust so far. Is yours getting wet and not drying for some reason? Or maybe you just got one with a bd paint job.My problem is keeping mice out of it. They have chewed up the dash wiring twice.

For 12 years when we lived in Maine, it was kept in a fabric Quonset hut with a gravel floor, for the last 2 years in Virginia, it has been kept under a carport with a concrete floor. So far, no sign of rust. But if I ever washed it... then I might see some. :)

"OLE HAROLD" (Ford 1720) lives in our 1 car garage along with our zero turn, log splitter, garden tools, canoe, kayak and other things that don't fit in our 20X24 log cabin. I think you could throw a dime into the open door and it would not land on the floor.!

I don't really need it in the snow. To be honest. 12" doesn't impact us that much
Count yourself lucky. We get tons of snow in Eastern Canada. I have a small heated garage with concrete floor and had to stop using it for the tractor as it created a lake inside the garage after every snow storm. The high humidity was rusting all my tools, like drill press etc.

I am thinking my tractor got bad paint. My previous Kubota, a B6200 I had for 26 years and no real rust issues with it.

Does anyone regularly spray the undersides to prevent rust? If so what do you use?

The John Deere 790 compact tractor goes into a 20' shipping container, the Kubota L4760 goes into a heated garage. Neither have any appreciable amount of rust.

Mine stays in my heated shop on concrete floor.

My JD 870 stayed outside for a couple of years, but has been in a barn with concrete floor for 25 years. No rust signs at all.

I keep mine in the garage attached to our house along with my pickup. It’s insulated but not heated. I have a separate heated shop but keep all my tools and our cars in it.

Unheated pole barn with an enclosed bay, a door that rolls sideways. The floor was dirt for years but I had it paved with asphalt when I got the driveway paved. Wondering about putting some sort of sealer on the asphalt to block any vapor coming up through. My filled rears do sweat enough with changing temperatures to create little puddles.

Mine are in their own building/shed with concrete floor that is just big enough for the two with a tiny bit of storage left over that allows the finish mower to stay attached to the utility tractor. The only time either see water is if I wash them or unintentionally get caught in rain. There is a bit of rust on the utility but then on a 65 year old Ford 850 a little spotty rust is expected.

I keep my tractors in the barn, but I have a few implements stored outside in an open carport. I use rubber stall mats on the dirt floor, arranged so no water pools on the surface. Keeps the moisture away from the metal and does a good job controlling corrosion.
