Our local GM dealer dropped Buick for the same reason with Buick going all EV by 2030. Their 3 locations elected not to do the mandatory upgrades to service any GM EVs. Would have cost $500,000 per location. You have to sell a lot of EVs to recoup that overhead. In a small town that isn't happening.

I really have no problem with that. This is exactly how this country was built to work, local decisions, allowing people to vote with their feet, rather than federal rulings that throw us all into the same pot. If I ever did live in Oakland CA, it would be just one more reason for me to relocate out of that place!

Exactly. I've said it a million times, at least from the standpoint of weather and scenery, California is one of the greatest places on earth! But you'd have to get rid of most of the Californians, before I'd ever be willing to live there, present company aside.
Hate to rain on your otherwise good post… but vehicle weight does not help at all in ice. It actually hurts performance on ice, a bit.

Correct, on hard ice. But it helps in snow, slush, and other normal winter conditions, though.
