The fuel gauge is sometimes reading and sometimes showing empty. I have done trouble shooting and believe fuel sending unit has gone bad.
5 volts on wires to sending unit. When sending unit is plugged in or unplugged the gauge still shows empty. I forget the resistance of the fuel sending unit, but seemed reasonable.
I am trying to remove the sending unit. Seat is removed. There is an access port near the sending unit BUT not near enough to remove the sending unit.

Very tempted to enlarge access port by about 3 1/2 inches to remove sending unit.
Does anyone know of a different way to remove sending unit.???

What is the New Holland tractor model?

My Workmaster 75 with cab requires dropping the tank to replace the sender. From the parts diagram for the T5050 the sender looks to be fairly long, so plan on enough space to come straight up from the tank a foot or so. Dropping a tank that large looks to be labor intensive. If I could gain access without tank removal by making an access hole I would consider it, as long as it didn't compromise any deck integrity. You also need enough room to get your hands down there to put the spacers #12 in place when tightening down the screws. Will there be enough room to get your hands in there when putting the screws back in with a small access hole?

You are right. Dropping the tank seems to be the preferred method. Enlarging and existing access port would be simpler. The existing port is about 3 inches out of position.
I have been able to remove the hose and electrical connector.
I am trying to decide if I should have dealer make a service call to trouble shoot the electronics to be certain it is the sending unit.

If you remove and ground the wire going to the gauge, does it respond?
Other than draining the fuel and removing the wheel, removing the tank is manageable.
Timewise, enlarging the hole to access the sending unit from above would probably take as much time as tank removal.
