Looking at this dump trailer, what is the vertical a-frame for?

Never seen that before and just can't figure it out.. Add on maybe?

It looks like they’re using it for an elevated position for the winch so they can pull stuff into the trailer.

First thought as well, but then I couldn't tell if the a frame was added on or if it was OEM and they just added the winch for convenience.

I’m pretty sure it’s a mobile home frame that’s been cut off and welded up there.

Can the winch be used to help lift the front of trailer if front heavy and hydraulics won’t lift it?

It does kinda look like there’s a ring on the front of the bed that you could hook the winch on.
