67 going to 82 and muggy.

So sorry about your friend, BEF. Terrible tragedy for that family.

I enjoyed looking at your pix. The Dakotas are 2 of the handful of states I haven't visited.

Spent 3 hours in the Social Security office yesterday. Just needed to pick up a copy of my MIL's 2024 SSA 1099 for taxes, which we never received, and take care of one item for my wife. Couldn't do it online, so tried making an appointment a week ago...after being on hold 45 minutes, a nice man said there were no appointment slots available, but someone in the office might call me back within 3 days...if not, try being a walk-in...so picked Thursday morning on a rainy day...well, the place was hopping.

When we were called, we got the nicest lady with some of the best great customer service skills I've encountered recently. Quickly got the 1099, but the other task requires an appointment, for which no slots were available. The appointment should be a phone call, and likely get scheduled in December.

I was surprised by the age of so many sitting in the waiting room. Some of us were clearly retirement age, but half were younger folks too young to retire, and too old to likely be there to request a new SS card (which they only do online, or by appointment, anyway).

Good Morning,
Ct, 62 to start going to 76 and I believe a nicer day on tap than yesterday. We certainly needed the rain and I believe we got a fair amount of rain. According to my paper the Waterbury Republican, we got just over 1.51 inches yesterday, of course Waterbury is 10 miles north of us but I think that’s close to what we received.

Looks like my new Icomm transeiver could be delivered by FedEx today, we shall see.

Starting this afternoon we pick up our grand children from the bus stop and have them until Sunday afternoon, at which time we deliver them back to our youngest son and head to Vermont. They have a wedding this weekend so we will be in charge 😉😃

There is a local restaurant that serves chips and guacamole they my grandson Ryan really likes so we will take them there later Saturday afternoon.

I’m hoping to get to my radio club Saturday morning, they will be having a speaker in Winlink , and then pizza immediately following the presentation.

That’s about it from here this morning, hope all have a blessed day and a safe day 🙏

Scott, Christmas comes early!
have fun with the Icom. All my marine radios were Icom.
now I'm told the wideband Icoms come with a Mars button.
you push it and a Martian answers.
perhaps you only get the space station... ;) (y)

Scott, the problem is that not all circles are the same and the very latest seem to avoid a lot of older problems
when in doubt I think whoever is in circle has right of way

but I did find this:

When a vehicle in the circle may not have the right-of-way:

Some older, traditional traffic circles are not designed like modern roundabouts and may have signs or traffic signals that dictate different right-of-way rules.

If the circle has a traffic signal or a specific sign indicating a different rule, that rule takes precedence. For instance, a "4-way stop" sign at an intersection would mean all vehicles, including those already in the circle, must stop.

In countries that drive on the left, the general rule of yielding to traffic from the right still applies to a roundabout, meaning vehicles entering from the left would have the right-of-way over traffic in the center of the roundabout that came from the right.

Good morning TBN folks. 47 here this am and getting up to 65 NOAA predicts. Was quite nice here yesterday and even the sun came out but was an overly busy day and too long for me to list. Had a few inquirers on our camper that we just put up FS so I'd now guess it will be sold this fall. :) We put up some furniture for fee that also got inquires on. Today I will need to prep brushing tools, camp supplies and load the 6x6 to head for camp we are in the process to purchase. Since we are heading to the camp, the neighbors pup will be going to other folks. Tried to mow the lawn but it never really dried and had to many things happening.... It gets "sorta" dry by late afternoon. Hope everyone Friday is good.

Good morning, the low is 56 and going up to 64°F Wind E 5 mph. 30% chance of showers.

Dump/town run today, we'll leave about 1130 hrs or so. I think when we get back we'll clean up the area where the BH is going to park for the winter.
Take the BH off tomorrow. Put the disks on and fluff up the driveway in preparation for a reshape job for winter. That is the plan, now lets see how close we can stick to it.

Traffic circles/roundabouts are fun especially in a big truck. You lumber along in the right hand lane and some knob will come up in the left lane (too stupid to slow down and get in behind you) Blowing their horn because they want the exit you just slammed the door on.
On a left hand traffic circle with two lanes try to keep your 53" trailer in the same lane as your tractor. The lanes would need to be almost 20' wide to do it. Yet I can keep almost all of my B train in the same standard width lane. (I am talking trucks here, not subways).

Drew, watch out for those quacks that just want you pilled up. Impaired by prescription meds is still IMPAIRED and the penalties are the same.

Have a safe day all

Bill, for sure, thanks, something I keep in mind while driving rv.
all of those pain meds seem to dull you to some degree; worse is falling asleep which is always my biggest worry
when driving alone.

I saw my first ortho doc 30 years ago and I have a medicine cabinet full of mild opioids I don't use, but keep getting prescribed,
usually after operations. Or they prescribe ten and I use one. So you have leftovers. I hope to never need daily heavy duty pain killers.
usually messes up your digestion and always to be avoided. Until you can't. My late wife couldn't. She wound up on an enormous
dose of fentanyl by the end. Being a nurse she intended to keep going as long as she could, what a fighter, to take care of her
Mother and I hope me. So even with implanted pain stimulators, only way she could exist is with serious drugs.
All of which I watched and learned from.

sometimes to just have your wife tell you she feels good is the most important thing in the world.

My reality is when that pop happens in my back it feels like a big kitchen knife stuck in there.
and it doesn't go away, and you can't get comfortable in any position.

my go to is tylenol with codeine for things like a tooth/jaw infection.
have had that same bottle a long time, probably ought to get it refilled for freshness.

am happy to report I feel pretty good. I'm just fine with pretty good.

Good Morning
63° with a high in the upper 70’s under a mostly clear sky. Quite an improvement over the grey, damp day that was yesterday. It only yielded 3/8” of rain, but was not a nice day to be outside. It messed up our streak at the RC club, the old guys were trying to get out every day for a week.

I spent most of the day yesterday in the shop putting stuff away, replaced some outlets in the barn, did a little project on the lathe for my friend that’s an Exmark dealer. Made a tool for an air hammer to jar the clutch loose from the engine shaft.
Not a lot planned for today, I’ve got the KubVan packed with models to take to the RC club this morning, maybe mow inside the pastures this afternoon.
I don’t think we are playing music tonight, at least not the usual crowd. Might do something different though.

good morning, 63 going to 77 no rain in FC today. We had plenty the last couple of days. My rain gauge is a pretty large dog feeding bowl and it was full

Wife is sleeping longer this morning and hoping Cody will not bark to wake her up. She needs a good sleep to feel better

Following a few of the kids that have challenges in life and helping with advice and support. VA son is categorized as 100 precent disabled and is getting good support and help from the VA. Hoping he will be moved from care facility into apartment soon

Don, did your Ranger get recalled for a bad door airbag?
apparently the bag works fine but when it blows up, hits a sharp edge on the door
and pops the bag too soon, so reduced safety. I'd keep driving...
Ford's recall woes continue
No, my Ranger is a 2019, not on the 2024-2026 recall list.

Good morning! A Cool 59˚F this morning before sunrise, heading to the upper 80s with winds coming from the South. Cloudless sky.
BEF, prayers for you and your friends family, tragic.

careful the next time to not slide into the muddy parts

Morning all, 66 to 82 and cloudy.
Tree fell in shared road, all cleaned up. So many small Ash back in there, getting them one by one. Too humid, really soaked by the time I finished.
Another car crashed into a store in the town next door, Sons' friend used to work there. Seems a car crashed into a store there every six months or so.
Neighbor is pregnant again, nice couple, very happy for them.

On reorg call, big boss mentioned me twice for accomplishments and even with all the changes I still report directly up to her, so no change for me, which is best outcome I could have asked for.

Son will be home from college tonight for the weekend.

BEF - so sorry to hear, our condolences and prayers to the family

Be well,
Bottom half of tree, other side split off and landed in road and on other side.

Not my picture, not sure why people keep crashing into stores.

Good morning TBN!!
65 and partly cloudy. Ended up with 0.84 in the bucket with more expected this afternoon. Humid again.
Not to much yesterday but. I can call the shop done. Couple of things to be picked up and a Snap-On tool box that my son is giving me to go in at some point. Need to get it from Fla. so hard telling when. And of course always doing or moving something.
More binging and relaxing and then bed.

Time for a second cup.Everyone have a great and safe day!!

...not sure why people keep crashing into stores.
There's a Wines & Spirits store near here that has this problem, it seems they have someone drive thru the store front about once every 6 months. Second-hand information says its mostly elderly drivers, mixing up the gas and brake.

I worked at a gas station as a teen, and remember one such event happening while I was manning the station. An elderly coupled had just finished filling their car, when they mistakenly floored it in reverse into the car being filled directly behind them, then they threw the car into drive, shot out of our parking lot and across four lanes of highway. They crossed the parking lot of a restaurant across the highway from us, side-swiping a few limousines parked there, and then launched off a retaining wall into the second floor of a business next door to the restaurant.

The pump handle had been torn out of the hand of the lady filling the first car they hit, and fuel went everywhere, which was probably not a huge deal as she had stopped the pump after just a short delay. But when I called the local FD to report the accident and likely injuries, they asked "was fuel spilled?"

Being 16 years old and not really thinking about how much excitement an accident at the town's largest gas station with "fuel spilled" might be to a bunch of volunteer fighters, I had no appreciation for the wheels I had just set into motion. Within maybe 15 minutes, we had something like 24 fire trucks surrounding the station, and two highways closed down by all of that. :ROFLMAO: Slight overkill!

Miraculously, the old people were okay. Seriously banged up, but survived and recovered. There was a guy sitting at his desk on the second floor of the business where their car came to rest, who was awful surprised to see a car come thru the wall at him, but he was also fine.

When questioned, the old lady said she thought she had her foot on the brake, not the gas, and couldn't understand why their car took off like that. I remember it was a powerful sedan, either Cadillac or Buick. She was in her late 80's, I think.
