67 going to 82 and muggy.
So sorry about your friend, BEF. Terrible tragedy for that family.
I enjoyed looking at your pix. The Dakotas are 2 of the handful of states I haven't visited.
Spent 3 hours in the Social Security office yesterday. Just needed to pick up a copy of my MIL's 2024 SSA 1099 for taxes, which we never received, and take care of one item for my wife. Couldn't do it online, so tried making an appointment a week ago...after being on hold 45 minutes, a nice man said there were no appointment slots available, but someone in the office might call me back within 3 days...if not, try being a walk-in...so picked Thursday morning on a rainy day...well, the place was hopping.
When we were called, we got the nicest lady with some of the best great customer service skills I've encountered recently. Quickly got the 1099, but the other task requires an appointment, for which no slots were available. The appointment should be a phone call, and likely get scheduled in December.
I was surprised by the age of so many sitting in the waiting room. Some of us were clearly retirement age, but half were younger folks too young to retire, and too old to likely be there to request a new SS card (which they only do online, or by appointment, anyway).
