In Canada we have a choice of Kubota or ALO loaders from factory.

Here too, in fact the Kubota dealers I approached for quotes, pushed the ALO (Quicke) loader over the Kubota genuine one for some reason.

I believe those models are re-badged Versatiles, they do not have the bevel-gear front axle.

You Could be right.
I dug into those bigger Kubota M’s and saw that they were made in France.
I was thinking maybe they took over the AGCO/Challenger tractor factory in France when AGCO pulled the plug on Challenger in 2020. That’s when it seemed like Kubota came out with the bigger M’s.

Why are they any heavier than competitors tractors in that HP range?
I bet Case-IH, Deere and AGCO brands are same or heavier.

yes they are rebadged Versatile built in Winnipeg, as far I could find they may have a Kubota CVT trans instead of the ZF in the Versatile and no I wont bet on who makes the heaviest tractor but I imagine a 10 ton 160hp M8 is in the mix.

Once you own a Alo or Quicke loader, you’ll never want another brand. They are overbuilt, stout and easy to take care of.
