I haven't had to ever use a sledge to remove a lugnut in the north.

I have had to use a sledge and then add a portapower to the mix to remove an inside rear dual wheel that was frozen on from rust and corrosion.
having to use sledge hammers or loosen lug nuts and drive in figure 8's to try and break a wheel free.

To get back to tractors did a tire swap last fall on this tractor, the first picture I had worked on that wheel 4-5 years ago, came apart just like it should have, the second picture I was replacing the bolts that held the center to the outer wheel, that was a 3 day project that involved penetrating oil, heat, and a 3/4 drive breaker bar with an extension pipe and then after replacing the outer bolts it took driving the tractor and making several sharp turns and figure 8's with the center lug nut loosened considerable to get the center free of the hub. In preparation for replacing the outer wheel.

nice shiney outer wheel and the hub and all wheel bolts and lug nuts have been anti seized.

Ouch! Jobs like that one are why I my personal collection of "persuaders" has gotten so large over the years. I keep running into jobs that just don't want to give up, be sensible, and unscrew.🤣

I have a demolition hammer with a post driving adapter (for driving t-posts and pipes) that works wonders on a pry bar or chisel to open spaces up enough for penetrating fluids. I also have a couple of nut breakers, when saving the nut isn't vital. Those and an impact gun, and I can move on to the next step quickly.

All the best,

Peter

My nut splitters don't seem to hold up, they usually deform and twist. Never had much luck with them. I did actually cut two of the nuts off of those bolts, cut one side drive it around with a chisel and then cut the other side. Especially when not reuseing the bolts.

Bought a real (light) set of forks for the Massey finally.
Need to move a lot of wood out of the back area. the thumb on the Back hoe is great for larger stuff, but I need to pile on many large branches and won't be doing that one at a time.

Got all trex on deck2, except piece against the house (still have antenna rotor cable in the way), and the outside picture frame pieces. Did raise the antenna a little, cut the pipe, installed trex under it with blocking below, and have it sitting on a piece of PT wood right now. Think I'll use a piece of trex under the pipe, screw it between to the crack to the support below.

mowed all but back over the hill, been 10 days, field needed it, but some of yard didn't, hill didnt.

Looks like the guy we let hunt at the farm mowed over 4 hrs today, or was joy riding on the tractor, lol. First time he has mowed in 2 yrs.

Good (Friday) morning. Overnight Low of 0.6C and it's presently 14.8C, clear with a wee breeze.

I need to start sprucing the house up... Winter, such as it is, tends to make me somewhat lethargic until I spot a herd of dust-rinos. Well, at least I'm thinking about it. 😐

That's about it, take care all.

I have seen folks use those, but they seem to need a fairly hard, compacted, flat surface (e.g. a paved parking lot) as they don't have much lateral strength.

I use one of these outside on turf, gravel what ever surface is under the object to lifted. I have occasionally used a piece of plywood under it if it’s on real wet ground, but generally it’s plenty stable.

96˚ heat index of 105˚ did some grocery shopping and cleaned the floor tile by the BBQ pit.

IT'S BAAAAACK!
Wife has been feeling under the weather suspecting allergies or a summer cold. We had some covid test left over and she took a test and failed quickly, (covid positive), she was just saying the last time she felt sick was 3 years ago when she had covid. Now I have been exposed. 3 vaccines and covid and still can get it. I'm keeping my distance but fear it is too late she started feeling lousy Monday. Today is her first day with a fever.
