Passenger or stowaway?
Ours stows-away right on top of the console, invited on the trip or not. Even if I open the door to get something out of the truck she gets in, you know, just in case.

My wife bakes dog cookies and this photo is when we had lots of Springers. They loved those dog cookies and loved her, so when a batch was ready, they knew it.
She made them behave to get one and they were like little angels when the cookies came out. This must have been a holiday cookie event--with holiday bandanas. All eyes on the cookies.
Every one of these dogs has now passed on but is buried in the back yard in a place of honor and with a marker. Gone but always remembered.
