You Know You Are Old When

Thanks for that.

I actually forgot about Dave Barry.

Dad got me reading Art Buchwald and mom got me reading Erma Bombeck. Dave Barry kind of replaced both for me after both Mr. Buchwald and Mrs. Bombeck died.

Local newspapers kind of suck now. Locally over $3 per paper ($4 on Sunday), when I had a paid subscription they could never deliver on a regular time at all (if they made the delivery at all), and the comic section keeps getting cut and kind of suckS as well (at least locally).

I was very impressed however with the San Francisco newspaper though when were in California late last year. Comics even came in color on a weekday!

Newspapers are my crack cocaine now. Spend way too much money to read the paper but it was a habit my dad got me into, and if I want one, I need to pay the bend over price at a gas station.

That's another sign you're old. You like to read the newspaper over a cup of coffee in the morning instead of reading it online via an electronic devise where it's cheaper.
Still get the SF Chronicle but it’s almost $90 a month and every time I think about canceling there is a blockbuster story… last house in the area to get the paper.

If you're interested, Dave Barry has become more active recently. It kind of nags you to subscribe for a fee, but you don't have to.
I always enjoyed his columns. Will look into it.

I can always catch the local news on my phone worse case.

What I really would like to find is a place is to read daily comic strips LOL

My local newspaper keeps cutting them down and the few they added are older ones that I really never found that funny.

Wow. Now that I think about it, I think that was actually the line being given, in that very scene! Good recall.

Pretty good movie, if I recall, but it's been a long time since I saw it.
Watch it again. It never gets old. (y)

Lewis Grizzard. He wrote a humorous column for the Atlanta papers. Hilarious.

The last paper that I subscribed to online had the daily printed paper format option, where you "flipped" pages. Maybe they all do. I found that the best, it only "presented" each story to me once. I found some of the other formats jumbled up where the same stories would come up during multiple sign-ons. I have a 40" monitor on my computer, so it was easy enough to read.

Used to be a guy that wrote the back page article for field and stream. His review of the first multi tools on the market was hilarious.

I read two papers everyday. I get quite frustrated regarding the poor job done proofreading articles.

Grammar, spelling, not a worry it seems. In the computerized world you'd think it would be better. Evidently not.

Grammar and spelling are a problem. ‘Computers spellchecking and grammar checking are not the answer. Journalism and proofreading needed…

Pat is my hero! I have read every book he has written. I moved to North ID recently and I have met folks who knew him. All his stories were based on people in his life and the locations he references are all real places.

Such great books.
