What did you buy this week?

Many many years ago we had an open pan about 8 inches deep and 4 foot by about 7 foot that was set up on cement blocks every spring that we used for the rough cooking, dumping all the cans and pails into it then every few days cooking it down quite away and carrying pails of the almost syrup down to the house for my Mother to finish off on the cook stove. On my way to the barns in the morning I stop and refill the pan with sap and load the wood fire up. I'd take a few slices of buttered toast with me and dunk in the cooked down sap before refilling the pan and starting morning chores.

Dammit! I really struggled with this decision. It has the 3.0L Duramax diesel.

This week I bought a Branson 2500HL with a loader and a flail mower.
What the L stand for? Just bought a 2400H 2021 model.

I bought this truck for my wife. She loves it, and so far it has been trouble free, gets great mpg on trips.
Wasn't sure about the 3.0 but it's pretty quick, quiet and goes a while between fill ups. Only 14,000+/- on
the odometer currently.....I'll decide if I like it after it gets a few more miles on it.

I've put about 40 miles on it so far. I find the ride is a little stiffer than what I was expecting. And although the diesel has good pep, it seems to be a little less than my Ram 2500 with the 6.4L hemi. I think the price was fair compared to other vehicles, and the diesel actually has a $1000 discount compared to the gasser. I considered replacing my Ram with another Ram, but now the Ram diesel is only offered in the High Output version, which is a $12,000 increase over the 6.4L gas engine.

For now, I'm keeping this new truck, and my Ram 2500, which I will continue to use to pull my 28' gooseneck trailer. This new GMC does have one of the highest towing capacities of any 1/2-ton truck since it has the diesel, but I still won't pull a gooseneck with it.

So is that truck a 1500 with a diesel engine?

Yes it is. I have 2 friends that have a very similar truck and the are getting about 26 mpg. It’s the only half ton diesel available right now from the big 3. Ford and Ram don’t offer diesel in a half ton for 2025 models.

My truck is a 2003 F-250 with over 250,000mi on it. I've kept it because it refuses to die. It doesn't
burn oil, leak any fluids and it was completely paid for over 20 yr ago. And though antiquated by
by comparison to the new truck features....everything but the cruise control works. But when I get in
her truck, omg, the ride and comfort levels are like a cushy limo ride. The only things I've hauled in the bed
were a couple of 1,000# pallets (not at the same time obviously). Couldn't even tell they were there. Not
sure I'd ever need to pull a trailer with her truck but I wouldn't hesitate if I needed it.
I don't know enough about Ram to comment on them. I went from GM to Ford vehicles in 1999. Just now
back to GM because Ford wouldn't deal on prices when I was looking to buy. I'm always looking
now days, so I might check into Ram, but so far GM has got my attention. Looking into the HD 2500's w/
the big diesel. But it's a want, not a have to have.

We've gotten 33.1 mpg as our best. Often get 26 -27 mpg. In town stop to stop we get 21 -23 mpg.

*edit: most hwy's are posted 75mph, we usually run 80-82mph. Your best mileage will be on runs
a distance of 60 miles or more at constant speed.

Good to know. Thanks! Very nice truck! Congrats!

Nice truck. I have just over 10,000 miles on my 2024 Yukon Denali 4WD with the 3.0L Duramax. Average combined mileage is showing 24 MPG. I routinely get over 30 on long highway trips. Best the DIC shows is 38 MPG over a 25-mile stretch, 34 MPG over a 50-mile stretch, and 28 MPG over a 450-mile stretch. Just got a message to add DEF, will be the 2nd 2 1/2 gallon jug I have added since I bought it last May.

Is that a pretty good machine? Top, middle or budget? It has been so long since I spec'd a Windows machine that I have no idea what the hot gear is right now. I have been using Mac's provided by work for the last 10 years, that's how out of touch I am with the PC world.
If you have been using Mac's you would hate windows... Just like we windows guy hate Macs. It's what you get used to. Android/Apple

Ordered a new CAT 2 adjustable lift link for my tractor-$83.
I'd been using the old lift link the previous owner of my tractor welded closed, as he only had a weight box on the 3-pt hitch. That makes it a PITA to hook up implements, then there's no way to adjust for grading etc.

I filled a want, not a need.

Purchased a 2025 Honda CR-V-L Hybrid.

Traded in a 2021 Honda Pilot EX-L with 68,300 miles, I had bought this brand new thinking it would be the last vehicle I would ever own.
At age 86 I really didn't "need" a new car, but with tariffs on the way and 60% of the parts imported from Canada the price increase could be $4,000+. The fact "you can't take it with you" did enter my mind so, why not.

What the L stand for? Just bought a 2400H 2021 model.
I was wondering that myself today, funnily enough. I assumed the H was for HST but the "L" remains a mystery. I have a loader. Do they all come with loaders? Could "L" stand for Loader?
