Just have direct payment from a checking account. No charge for this.

The less people that have access to my checking account the better. My son's private school is the only entity that can withdraw money from my checking account, and they screwed that up recently.

I still have some companies charging $2.95 to $5.95 for using CC.

I had a $6000 dental procedure recently and paid by credit card. I asked if they offered a discount for paying by check, (to save them CC fees of probably $150+), nope. OK, I’ll get some card points.

I pay power bill online by CC and get 1.5% cash back, also save the stamp price.

Someone mentioned Purolator. Here's a delivery I'm expecting from Ontario. Made it all the way to Truro which is about 20-25 minutes up the 100 series highway and I got this this am. Looking outside its sorta sunny, no wind -2C, roads are completely clear. I'm in the midst of a chat with 'Ushindi ' at the moment who probably has no idea what snow is....we'll se how this goes.

I’ve never had an issue. But to reduce the likelihood of problems I set up a special checking account just for monthly bill payments.

What do you expect though, when for the past 5 years the USPS has been run by somebody who openly says he plans to have it privatized. It's reminiscent of Sears, Roebuck and Co.

Invoices often say if paid by mail allow 10 days.

All well and good until the invoice arrives 3 days before the due date.

But when was the invoice mailed? No postmark on a lot of bill sent by larger companies who save on postage by pre-sorting. IMHO a lot of companies are giving you a smaller payment window to force you to use some sort of direct or online payment.

I had a package ship from Darby Montana, which is an hour away via US93, to Hamilton, Montana, then on to Missoula, to Spokane, to Seattle, to Portland, to Boise, to Twin Falls, to Salt Lake City, to Rigby Idaho, and finally to Salmon Idaho. There is a daily truck from Missoula to Rigby.

I never will understand why Sears, and JC Penny, both of whom had extensive catalogs, formatted in HTML, didn't manage to survive and thrive in the roll out of the internet, which heavily leveraged HTML.

As near as I can tell, they were taken over by managers who valued their assets more than the product.

Kind of like DeJoy (less).

Personally, I think he was hired to run USPS into the ground so it could be nationalized, and the mandates to deliver to every address could be removed. It seemed like a pretty clear goal of his during his appointment hearings.

USPS pkg from CA to MO in just 18 days.
It was estimated to be a 4 day delivery. After 3 days it had not left our distribution hub where it was on day 1. It remained unaccounted for. On day 8 I filed a lost mail report.
17 days after it was picked up it scanned in MO and out for delivery the same day.
Good ole USPS.

He was making the USPS more efficient by getting rid of sorting machines. Sorting by hand is more efficient? No wonder some people wait a long time for packages.
