Is the Cyber Truck a Flop?

Musks political aspirationd play a minor role.
I did read your notes about service issues, which I don't think are as bad here in the US, although the spacing between Tesla-operated service stations is a bit of an issue here.

But a quick Google search on "Tesla sales down in Europe" turned up many articles, the headline of nearly all of them essentially claiming that it was due to Musk's current political involvement. So if you say that's playing only a minor role, I can't claim with certainty that you're wrong, but the Euro news media (at least that posted in English) seems to be trying to play it otherwise.

I think pretty much every european car manufacturer now offers electric cars, so I expect buying has shifted to them.
VW EV sales are slumping, though they need to get them moving or they pay a hefty fine.

In the end they will make them so cheap that the consumer ends up with rubbish.

People who work in media, sell news, they dont report it. Their work cant be measured in production units, so most of them are left leaning, especially when they work for a government broadcasting company.

Tesla sales drop, off course its not because the green bubble starts cracking, but because Musk talks right.

Queues at the British border isnt because they have no hurry at customs: Its the British suffering from Brexit.

Sometimes i show a Dutch news article to my friend Edward in Britain. He says i dont recognise that doom and gloom at all here...

I am 95% with you WinterDeere. I don't care about the political leanings of the CEO when it comes to buying a vehicle that should last over 15 years. But I stopped drinking Coke products because soda is not that important to me, and it was a way to make a statement. Won't take the grandkids to Disney either.

I am not surprised some people are dumping EVs once the incentives are removed. And one of the reasons I will not purchase a Tesla is the lack of service in my area. 200 miles to closest service center.

Tesla has made major investments in EV manufacturing, and I hope they are successful. But my belief is that Musk does not see EVs as the "hinge pin" of his empire. He also realizes that as gas prices fall, and without government influence, ICE vehicles will remain the preferred option for most Americans.

Not just Americans. People who buy used vehicles, dont want a ticking timebomb, when the battery is broken, replacement costs almost the price of a new vehicle.

Most truck buyers today are purchased as others said here not as a truck but as a status symbol. They're meant to impress others with all the gadgets. My personal truck is a '93 F150 4x4 4spd. 300-six. 206K miles. I have $2,400 in it. It doesn't impress anyone except our farrier who I pulled his diesel Ram 3500 crew cab loaded (10K#?) he got stuck in a ditch...uphill in the snow using granny gear. He forgot leaving parking brake on but dragged it out anyway.
I was talking about trucks besides, not towing capacity but for hauling junk.
Crazy?
To me it's crazy spending $100K-$150K either to haul groceries or tear up working/hauling.
A truck is a truck. To each his/her/their own.
I buy what I like to drive, don’t care what anyone thinks about it. I am not sure if I know anyone that purchased for a status symbol.

I live in a rural area, most of us use our trucks as a truck.

I’m sure they have good services there since that is where they’re built.
OK, didn’t know that because I’m not interested in buying one, but I like cars, or basically anything with the motor so while we are driving, I’m always looking at vehicles

I don't have much interest in owning an electric vehicle, but the concerns about battery life seem overblown. Current replacement cost for Tesla batteries seem to be in the $12K to $15K range and the failure rate is very low. The warranty is for 100K to 150K miles depending on the model and applies to ones bought used. An engine or transmission failure on a conventional car can easily cost $5K to $15K.
