Mr. Arly, do you use the plow while grooming tracks? If yes, for what purpose?

Yes, we carry enough in it so is rolls it and that knocks air from it. Pretty must the same thing the implement does.

Gosh we got a nice snow overnight. Light stuff and I'm trying to get to the trails asap to roll it down.

First question then... why how do they compare on trails to a snow machine? Why do you use tracks rather than a snow machine?

Arly does grooming for the cross skiing trails in his area. His ATV setup shown above. I am not sure if the roller actually leaves a ski track or not. Rolling the snow with the plow on the front turns the snow over taking the air out of light fluffy snow. Then the roller in the back packs it down. I also think his tracks stay on top of the snow instead of tires digging in.

This is my interpretation of reading Arly's post for years. He may correct me later on. Enjoy, Jon

An exciting day on the trails today. I sent my 13yo associate off by himself. He did fine, but awful nervous and asked a 1000 questions. The 5" of snow we got was low moisture and worked in well.

Not quite sure which might be "a snow machine". Here is a few I've operated over the years. They all operated in the white stuff.
