40 outside this AM, heading just a little higher. Dry out. If the winds don't pick up I should do the burn pile soon. Visited it yesterday with not my dog and it is just ten times larger than it should be. Will be an area warmer when it goes up. Will have to alert the local FD and neighbors, since some neighbors cannot distinguish location of a burn pile against location of barn or houses.

Nothing else on agenda, real job calls. Maybe not for much longer. LOL.

Wife needs to finish up testing for docs today and then the drama begins later with conference calls and will readings. Just in time for Christmas! Oh...boy....

Been a heck of a year, the end days should make it...more special. LOL.

Hope all have a great day, be safe.

very nice idea Popgadget

I'm curious, how many miles until tie rod ends wear/get loose?
Should last 100,000 easy. Double or more if kept lubed. Dodge trucks have had problems with them going out early. I'm sure others too.

All out of happy oatmeal?
why you mad at your oatmeal Mostly?

40 going to 46. Rain came in last night.

Buppies, you are doing great. Prayers for you and your wife.

BEF, enjoy that fudge. Great flavor choices and packaging...but what's inside is the payoff.

Finished cutting down the big Magnolia tree that 90% died last year. It was a real odd shape of curving trunks due to repeated ice damage breaking off sections over its nearly 40 years. This tree originally came up in my backyard in Virginia Beach...probably a bird dropped a seed. When I moved here, dug it up, and transplanted it here along with two pecan trees my dad brought as a housewarming gift. So this magnolia brings back special memories.

There is still a section growing that I'll leave and nurture since my wife likes to prune some leaves to use for Christmas decorations. Now, I have quite a lot of firewood to split, and many small branches to move to the brush pile.
Sorry about your Magnolia tree. As a private first class, I was tasked with picking up magnolia tree dropped flowers at Fort Rucker Alabama (which they have changed the name of) along the road in front of the head quarters back in 87. I bet me and 2 others picked up 30 large garbage bags of them. I decided then and there that I don't need a magnolia tree in my yard LOL. I enjoy other people who have them. :)

39F outside, 66F inside. Sun will make it up to 66F today.

Got an old Brown & Sharpe's broken feed fixed. It is a No 1 Universal horizontal mill. I searched all over, but couldn't find any info. I thought I would have to pull out the gear tray but after a lot of crawling around under the knee and inspecting, I figured out it has a shear pin on the side at the power transfer gear box. Knowledge is power, and I didn't have it until a lot of looking it over. I made a quick video to share with others if they have the same problem. B&S made some awesome machinery. I found an old quote from the 50's that a bigger model cost between 9 to 11K which was quite a bit of money back then.

Hope all have a blessed day. Prayers for all, our country, for peace in the world.

Our autistic daughter has developed a real sour outlook on the world. She has a memory of an elephant, but bad memories push out the good memories. Wifey and I are praying about what to do.

Life is too short to be glum. We were never promised an easy life. Try to find the joy in our daily lives. Make changes if needed, volunteer, join a club, go to church.

On another subject....

You guys can just keep fighting over the morning's worms. :)

Awaiting the dawn to leave for work. This time of year presents plenty of opportunities to hit a deer or hog. Already seen multiple vehicles which have this year. I have 2 options to go to work. 1 is a backway, beautiful but teeming with wildlife. It is shorter, but lower speed limits and more pot holes. I love to take it, but refrain from doing so when it is dark. Then main route is state highways, with higher speed limits. Here in Texas, if you hit a cow on a Farm to Market road, it is your problem, but on a state highway if you hit a cow, the ranch can be held liable. The problem is, the ranchers quickly forget which cows are theirs when they get hit on a state highway. Had a young man hit 4 cows a few months back, rancher not claiming his cows. I hope the sheriffs do their due diligence.

good morning, 34 going to 42 mostly cloudy

Worked some on the beam repositioning the jack and adding more block up between the jack and beam to prevent biting into the beam. Reaching a point where there is little progress. When the beam relaxes pull with a 4 ft rod as much as possible and then stop for while to make it relax some more.

Mostly, yes I have been looking online for fixes to the interior light problem but no solution found as of yet. Next is setting up the dedicated laptop to the port on the van and see what I can learn with the more sophisticated scanner.

Told D about the Caredge site since she wants to get a new car and she has studied the videos to learn how to negotiate the best deal. The role play between seller and buyer is really helpful

Her new job is working out well and already 2 weeks in tapped to be acting manager of department

Speaking of deer,

My dear wife noted five carcasses between our house and a big main road we use to get everywhere.

A little more than 1 dead deer per mile.

I missed a black and white dairy cow in the middle of the road a few years ago. It was hoofing down the road and just at the edge of my headlights. I passed it with success as it looked at me. I called the local sheriff and got the distinct impression he thought I was kidding since it was so early in the AM.

Good Morning
37°, sunny and a high in the low 40’s. Temp takes a dive in the afternoon.

Yesterday, I never got past the shop, that means I never made it down the lane to put the markers in. I did manage to get the oil and filter changed in the Lazer.
Spent some time with Fusion, just as a refresher, trying not to forget what I’ve learned, as I have a project coming up that will require some proficiency. That same project will use the 285 amp MIG welder that hasn’t arrived yet, but I’m ready for it, cart is ready, outlet and extension cord is in place. Generally it will be plugged into the wall, but I made up the extension cord I can reach out the overhead door or most areas in the shop. Now I just need the welder.

Today I have some repairs to do in the barn, a bulb to replace in the garage, I’m guessing the driveway markers aren’t going to put themselves in, I’m sure there’s other stuff that I’ve conveniently forgotten to get to.
Then we go with son, DIL and grandson to Peddler’s Village to marvel at the lights before dinner at the Cock & Bull there.

If we get home early enough, I will head out to meet a group of friends that has been getting together the Thursday before Christmas for well over 50 years. Sadly the group gets smaller every year. Actually I’ll go regardless of when we get back, if they are still there……

Morning all, 39 to 45 and sunny.
Might get some more firewood moved today.

Last nights Chorus went well, they started with the symphony Orchestra and ended with the Chorus group. The kids worked hard and it showed.

We had a big power pole fall down on the road to the school. Looks like on our way back the power company was fixing it. Usually trees fall over, not poles

be well,

Deer all jammed up in there :)

successful trip getting new battery in Volvo.
surprised at 128 bucks to install ("scan needed to complete procedure")
but at least he fixed my jammed hood latch for free. He said it was hung up inside. ok

cars today have so many electronics some of which probably don't like getting disconnected from power
but wonder what a scan tool has to do with anything. Clearing a code?

headed out to garage, will turn on heat and try to see what I can putter with, still have two shelves to hang but
not sure where. Need to move stuff first.
