At low speed - wheels turn opposite for tighter radius
At higher speed - rear wheels turn slightly with fronts for stability
I was wondering about that. Seems like an opportunity for one very nasty game of crack the whip, if rears were always proportional to fronts, at higher speeds.

How'd the tractor get so far off the road, trailer pushed him? Surely he didn't drive there intentionally.
Combination of kinda narrow road (with a deep ditch) and a narrow driveway with not much flare. Once it got pulled out, they came back with a couple loads of material and made a wider flare.

They couldn't afford a double-wide so....
It was what they had wherever they lived before, just had it moved.

GMC has new p/ups with rear steer. The TV ads make 'em look kinda cool, but what's the point/benefit?
Four-wheel steering can be very useful when off-roading. I suppose in theory it might also be useful when backing large trailers, such as long 5th wheel RVs, but that would probably take a lot of getting used to in order to make it effective.

And if it was such a great idea why was it discontinued?
My guess is too little demand at the price point?

Lots of good ideas come and go only to be resurrected later.

Someone came up with 4WS where the wheels went 90 degrees for parallel parking. Cool idea, but as has been said, not enough female drivers demanded it....

Insurance companies probably told them that they're already better drivers than men and don't need it.

I can see the application on an off road/tractor. Not so much for a on road truck. I'll pass, thank you.

As others have said the price was too high, but they also marketed it wrong. They put it on the 1500 trucks when it should have been on heavy-duties (on the Suburban/Yukon it actually came on the 2500).

For people that tow often, if you ever tried it you would never go back to standard 2WS. The trailer is more stable, follows the truck better in forward and lane changes, and backing up the trailer goes right where you point it. It really is a game-changer for towing, but they never marketed it that way.
