GMC has new p/ups with rear steer. The TV ads make 'em look kinda cool, but what's the point/benefit?

Just like the Tesla Cybertruck? Steering is by-wire so the computer can control front and rear wheel steering independently, as needed.

The point being is so they can charge you mega bucks when it breaks for something that there is no use for, least in my books there isn't.

Steering is by-wire

Am I the only one who has a problem with this? Say what you will but I want a direct line connection between the steering wheel and the ground.

The 4-wheel steering is only available on the GMC EV vehicles, the Sierra pickup, the Hummer pickup, and Hummer SUV.

Honda had a Prelude back in the 1980s with four wheel sreer. Very handy turning into tight carparks and cornering at high speed.

Acura Honda had a car with 4 wheel steering about 30 years ago.

At low speed - wheels turn opposite for tighter radius
At higher speed - rear wheels turn slightly with fronts for stability
