I learned something about LED bulbs and why some don't last very long.
Did not know they had two ratings, for enclosed fixtures and open fixtures.
Seems they are made so cheaply any more that your basic cheap LED light bulb will not withstand
elevated temps.

They used to be more durable and now you can buy "the old way" for what I'm sure is a significant increased cost.
so when you buy LED bulbs looks to see if they are "enclosed fixture" rated if that's what your application uses.

my garage ceiling light has a lot of LEDs that are bright as can be and are fully open to the air.
it's the ones in your lamps inside or the outdoor light fixture where the bottom isn't open that apparently
have greatly reduced life if they heat up too much. Like many things...

44 and rain is just entering the county. Weather man says sunny and 58 this afternoon, though.

Kyle, that wildlife plan sounds good. Prayers for your wife getting better.

Cut a dead red oak down yesterday...counted 64 rings...I've been seeing it decline over the last 2 years...took two tractor trips to bring all the rounds up to the splitter...I split the first load and stacked it so I could use my wood box again for the second load, but by that time my splitter was too tired to split the second load. ;) Nearly dark, anyway, so I'll have something to do while the ground is wet. Since it was my first big chain saw operation of the season, treated my saw to a new chain...so nice...fast and smooth.

Many of you know I'm a big baseball fan...I've certainly enjoyed watching a young star named Juan Soto. Used to play with the Nationals, this year with the Yankees.

Just signed with the Mets, for $0.765 Billion. A 26 year-old that can really swing a bat. I believe he is the highest paid athlete. To a big city team, he brings in a lot more than RBIs, but at the rate he hits homers...41 last year...he will "make" $1.24 million per homer...if he can keep that up for all 15 years of the contract.

Kyle, keep that son of yours swinging the bat.

You gotta read the fine print, generally with a microscope and a Philadelphia lawyer at your side.
I guess one could say my Mom was a Philadelphia lawyer... :giggle:
Philadelphia suburbs anyway.
it's all contract law of sorts, which is also the basis for insurance.
Where a comma can mean something different than a semi-colon
and if the font is so small on the package it's all intentionally hidden

I was impressed with how well the latest Medicare "book" tried to put things in plain language and the reason the book
is large is they use larger fonts you can actually read. Considering target audience, large fonts are very sensible and appreciated.
but good luck trying to read the print on side of hot dog package.

I probably spend more time looking for "made in China" on purchases as I do the food ingredients.
I do not want Chinese seafood. Plenty of alternatives from Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, even Australia, etc.

good morning, 40 going to 52 with rain expected

Success, the wasps are no more. Used the Delta dust with a puff tool to blow a small amount into the brick opening outside on the wall up on a ladder. Was concerned about being up 15 ft and coming after me standing on a ladder. But all went well

Good Morning,
Ct, 32 to start going to 46 ! Rain is supposed to come in around noon time or shortly thereafter!

Since it was my first big chain saw operation of the season, treated my saw to a new chain...so nice...fast and smooth.
Billy, I totally agree, nothing like a brand new chain when the saw is running perfectly! Good score on the red oak, I love red oak in the wood stove, but it takes quite awhile to season it out properly!

Took Kathleen out for dinner last night to the Cast Iron Chef, we both had filet mignon, that was excellent ! Also picked up a couple of gift certificates for our boys for Christmas!

Today will try and get a long walk in before our rain event this afternoon! Kathleen had ordered some photos of the grands for our Christmas cards, so I need to start all of that today !

Hope all have a great start to their week ! 🙏

40 outside right now, drizzle coming down, heading to upper 50's.

More late night work on Milk House and real job (finally). Sort of threw a wrench in the morning routine so I need to get busy.

Hope all have a great day and a good start to the work week.

I'm using Duck Duck Go for a browser as well as Ad Block, these damned ads just keep pushing, a big banner ad at the top of the page just under the header, several between replies a couple on the right side and a bottom banner ad. According to the ad block counter an attempted 375 ad placements on this page alone as it resets on each page.
We will see how today goes.

All stay safe and enjoy

Edited to add this I see that Weather Underground only had 9 ads blocked compared to almost 400 now here :(

Good Morning
30° and a high overcast. High of 45 and rain later today.

Yesterday was spent puttering around in the morning, took the little plane for a ride to Reading for lunch with a friend. Then later had to go to holiday market to help wife breakdown and load her wares into the transit connect.
I enlarged the holes in the strainer basket in the kitchen sink, they were not very big, about 5/64 or so and would clog up pretty easily.

Watched an interesting YouTube on powering an electric golf cart with a predator engine driving an automotive alternator. The clever part was using the alternator as the speed control by controlling the field voltage and connecting the output directly to the motor.

Not sure what I’m going to get into today. Might go look at Drew’s neighbor’s car to see if we would be interested in it.
A friend is supposed to stop by and return some tools that he borrowed to do a mini split install over the weekend. After that we should figure out what we need in a shed and where we want to put it.

Good Morning to All who Celebrate! 41 with a high of 47. Rain is forecasted for the next three days, it has been threatening rain but I haven't seen any rain yet.

Logging Chain and Rachet Straps arrived, seem to be well made and good quality. Very excited to try them out, Mytee Products if anyone was interested in looking for themselves.

Work this week will involve a lot of travel, at least two different trips, before the holiday freeze happens. Here's hoping we can get this put to bed before the New Year.

Dad struck out this past weekend, but we had a 4 point walk across the backyard and enjoy some leftover apples before just moseying on along. It's like they know they can't be shot.

Mom is slowly recovering from her cold. She had an infected gland in her cheek that swelled. She took a regimen of antibiotics and is improving.

Only goals are to survive the week and figure out gifts for this year.

Deeply saddened to read about the illnesses and loss here. Y'all are in my prayers.

Please all, guard your health and stay safe out there! Enjoy the week!

Morning all, 36 going to 50 and rain showing up in a bit.
All the tall ornamental grasses cut down and cleaned up
More bushes trimmed out.
Still need to do Crape Myrtles and BlueGreen grass area.

Lights come down as they last longer, we have lights wrapped in some bushes that stay up year round.

Be well,
Even with the drought, the grasses went a bit crazy this year, had to prune the one by the pool twice.

Don, looks like you are all ready.
just order up a couple of light dustings of snow for better theater...

I also get a lot of Hale groves fruit ads, because I just ordered from them.
I have AdblockPlus and it was turned off. Turned it back on.
I refreshed the page and they disappeared.
a few seconds later, like a persistent tick, they were back

got everything done I needed to, wanted to put up some shelves in garden shed and realized I was out of
hanger hardware. Definitely an online thing, the nice hardware store downtown has it all bagged in nice coordinated packages
for about four times the cost. And I'm sure not walking all the way into Home Depot for that.
I'm just being ecological right? Amazon was coming anyway...plus I get 7 percent back from Amazon if I tell them no rush.
Stuff is starting to come in late, etas getting pushed back. Pretty normal.

was headed out later but decided to wait til tomorrow, have to go out anyway to see oncologist first thing in morning.
Hopefully all those blood lab tests are ok, even though some were slightly out of range. Nice I get to see labs online before
talking to him. Dozens of tests, all acronyms I don't understand, blood chemistry.

Good Morning!!!! 43F @ 7:15AM. Some clouds this morning will give way to generally sunny skies for the afternoon. High 69F. Winds NNW at 5 to 10 mph.

Sorry to hear about Ted's wife, Drew. Thanks for being the go between.

Took delivery of a new dishwasher on Saturday. Had them unbox it, but when they moved it up the driveway they had the dolly foot resting under the plastic pump housing. I told them about it and was told it won't hurt anything. Yeah, right. It didn't come with a cord, and the water hose from the old dryer didn't fit. Found an old computer cord in the junk box, and a strain relief clamp in the electrical parts box, but it took more than a few minutes to find the terminal box on the dryer. The instructions had a very close up drawing of the box, but no hints as to where to find it on the dryer. Quick run to HD for the hose had me asking directions to it, and clerk was already there helping someone else. Needed an extra fitting so followed him as he barged through groups of people just standing around, and again going to get the hose. Found a kit that had both the fitting and hose and was out of there in only five minutes. Caught up with an out of state friend via cell phone on the way there, planned that way 'cause gosh that guy can talk! Dishwasher is so quiet almost can't tell it's running. Thought all the racks were stainless steel, but looking closer they're actually heavily powder coated silver. Grrr.

Ordered a new cell phone to take advantage of much better camera and satellite cellular emergency calling. Safety first, but oh my gosh, such a cost. Will maybe get $300 back for the old phone. New case and car charging cables on order. Looking at cost basis for Apple stock took some of the sting out of the transaction, though.

Learned that legislation exempting insurance payments for disaster claims passed both houses of Congress, so have a nice chunk of my money being returned by Uncle Sam. Will have to file a few amended tax returns to get it, though.

Finished out the weekend with a buddy hiking up to some water tanks overlooking the valley. Found a steep, sandy single track that was deeply eroded in spots, and was surprised to find bicycle tracks on most of it. Even ran across a mountain bike racing clinic being conducted on a football field in the park at the base of the hills.

Hope everyone's week gets off to a nice start!
