My peeve...businesses not doing what they say they'll do.
Right now waiting on a sofa delivery I paid for.
Text from salesman yesterday "good news! Sofa will be delivered tomorrow morning! Delivery guys will call early giving delivery time. It's 11:45...no call or sofa
Yesterday a pest control company came out for squirrels in the garage. $85 service call. They check everything out, I hand owner $100 bill. He said I'll text estimate later today. No receipt, text, nothing.

We're still waiting on the leather sofa.
As soon as I hit send on this post I hear a back up alarm...look outside and here comes a big unmarked box truck backing up the driveway!
This guy hops out and I say "wait! You need to go up the first driveway because that goes in the front door which is where it goes. And before we unload it my wife wants to sit on it to be sure she likes it!".
The young guy has this puzzled expression.
Then says: "I didn't see the first driveway and not sure why your wife wants to sit on a box of tractor filters. I'm from FedEx".

I made it halfway through before my short attention span kicked in. At that point he had rambled on about kings, dogs, cats and gravestones but hadn't said anything about the movie or Christmas.

Today's peeve is people who ramble on and don't get to the point of what they are trying to say.

A friend I hadn't seen in 30 years came here, sat & talked about his new shingle roof installed this summer. He actually counted the nails in each shingle..."some had 3, some 4"...etc. After an hour and a half I jumped up "My Dear Lord!!! Does it leak!!!???!!! We've had some heavy rains, did you look in the attic!!!??? Any stains in the ceiling anywhere?". "No" he said..."but see this picture?"
Maybe we'll have 30 more years of peace I thought as he left...

You made it much farther than me! I posted that one before watching it, and only later realized it was junk. But figured someone might get upset if I deleted the post.

In "my day" typing was a worthwhile elective class to take. Now, kids know how to type before they can walk....

Actually, with most people under 30 today strictly using "mobile devices" (gawd, I hate that term), it would seem we're back to hunt & peck. Can't really type on any of them.

I took one semester of typing in high school (mid 60s). Thought it might be a useful skill to have (plus it was a good class to meet girls). Never figured it would be as useful as it turned out to be though!

I bought a Bluetooth keyboard that I use if I'm at home and need to send some texts. Lots easier than the tiny one on the phone.

Same, but mine's integrated into my iPad case. Definitely easier setting that on the breakfast table to watch the news and surf the forum while scarfing down my Honey Bunches of Oats and yogurt, than fiddling with a tiny phone screen keyboard.

I am fed up to my teeth with people with their hands out.
It seems every second or third major intersection has a beggar with hands out with sign and a tin cup.
In the mall, every mall, there is a Santa collecting. Is it OK to give to one and not the other. At least when I buy a poppy for Remembrance Day I have proof I've donated.
In the store as you check out they ask if you would like to donate to some charity or other.
On the local news station they're going to have a food drive next week.
There is also a toy drive for Christmas.
Ronald McDonald house is collecting.
Tim Horton's is selling cookies for some charitable...
I've mostly stopped going out to eat. Used to be 15% was an acceptable tip for GOOD SERVICE.
Now if you pay with debit it starts at 20% and goes up.
Turn on early morning TV for news and the religious station is begging.
Bunch of medical procedures for third world children have their hands out.
Holocaust survivors in Ukraine are guilting me. The few that may still be alive are a 100 years old. Can't be that many left. How much is the CEO of this organization making I wonder?
Shelter for abused women has it's hand out because I'm responsible for their poor choices in life.
And it goes on and on and on...
You know what?
I don't care anymore.
I'm all for helping someone up. Most of us have been in a tight place and a little help would have gone a long ways.
But they've industrialized it.
It's big business.
There are CEOs earning big bucks.
How much do the needy really see of that?
I'm sure Wal---- takes a charitable donation tax credit for the money they collect from their different drives. And it's all from the money people gave them and not from their profits.
