What is some of your Pet Peeve's

I am fed up to my teeth with people with their hands out.
It seems every second or third major intersection has a beggar with hands out with sign and a tin cup.
In the mall, every mall, there is a Santa collecting. Is it OK to give to one and not the other. At least when I buy a poppy for Remembrance Day I have proof I've donated.
In the store as you check out they ask if you would like to donate to some charity or other.
On the local news station they're going to have a food drive next week.
There is also a toy drive for Christmas.
Ronald McDonald house is collecting.
Tim Horton's is selling cookies for some charitable...
I've mostly stopped going out to eat. Used to be 15% was an acceptable tip for GOOD SERVICE.
Now if you pay with debit it starts at 20% and goes up.
Turn on early morning TV for news and the religious station is begging.
Bunch of medical procedures for third world children have their hands out.
Holocaust survivors in Ukraine are guilting me. The few that may still be alive are a 100 years old. Can't be that many left. How much is the CEO of this organization making I wonder?
Shelter for abused women has it's hand out because I'm responsible for their poor choices in life.
And it goes on and on and on...
You know what?
I don't care anymore.
I'm all for helping someone up. Most of us have been in a tight place and a little help would have gone a long ways.
But they've industrialized it.
It's big business.
There are CEOs earning big bucks.
How much do the needy really see of that?
I'm sure Wal---- takes a charitable donation tax credit for the money they collect from their different drives. And it's all from the money people gave them and not from their profits.
I quit!

I will give to just about every hand I see out there, with really only two exceptions:

1. I won't put cash in the hand of a junkie, but I have handed them food or other items, when it's practical. This used to be frequent thing, when I went to school in the city, and a lot of the homeless guys were always camped out in front of our two 7-11 stores.

2. I don't really like giving to animal-based charities, as I always feel like those dollars would be better dedicated to human-based charities. I'm glad there are others there to devote their time and resources to animals, but it's just not for me.

I think it's sad that those trying to support veterans have to sell hats and shirts in front of the grocery store, just to get people to give. I usually hand them a $10 or $20, and tell them to just keep it, no need to make them lose the cost of another t-shirt from their bottom line.

A while back I was going into a local grocery and there was a guy at the entrance asking for hand outs claiming to be hungry.
I had just been to the bank and only had larger bills so I said I'd get him on the way out. I wasn't aboot to give him a $50-100.
The store has a full deli counter coffee shop and bakery where they make everything fresh.
It was close to closing time and as I walked past the cooler I saw 2 large chicken salads marked down 50%.
They were large family size. Lettuce, cuke, onion, cherry tomato, cheese, lots of chicken and croutons ++ with dressing of choice on the side.
Looked great.
I took both, 1 for me and the other for the HUNGRY guy.
Walking out the door I give him one of the salads.
He just says, "WHAT THE FUC-?"
He flings it across the parking lot like a Frisbee (it was in a round container).
It hits the top of a car fender and goes flying up in the air.
At this time the lid comes off and all the ingredients go flying everywhere. It almost looks like fireworks. Kinda cool actually.
Later I found out "hungry" is druggy speak for he needs a fix.
By the way, my salad was great. Easily enough for 2 meals on it's own.
Never again.

Just this morning, I saw a post on FB about the salaries of ASPCA highest paid people. Wow! A very top heavy "charity". I just looked back and can't find it...

I don't give to any group other than AmVets.

Folks hate it when they get caught and as a property manager it happens more than I had thought...

Been there.
"Will work for food" sign guy I said "Okay. I have brush to cut and some easy chores to do. We'll feed AND pay you, supplying the tools, gloves, etc.". He said "are you crazy?"
People giving those people money have no idea.

I've seen the food throwing routine and thought the same as others. Then somebody pointed out to me that there are people who would spit in or otherwise sabotage the food they give away.
I don't give to any panhandler. I give to Salvation Army. The local grocery store takes donations for some food organization this time of year and I will donate 10$/week from November until Christmas. The local bottle redemption center accepts donations for the food pantry and I give some of my refund money. But I won't give online or write a check because that put's you on a list and the requests won't stop coming.

I tried giving food to a homeless guy, he threw it at my head when I turned around.
However, we had a guy who used to bring sandwiches and waters on the subway in a cooler for homeless people, I gave him money. He handed out a lot of sandwiches.
