Please, don’t start with the crap of what you think l’m trying to do. Keep your head games to yourself.
I’m trying to explain to you NOT why cars cost more today but what the SAME car would cost in today’s dollars.
I did so to introduce another factor of inflation being a time quotient as to how quickly something goes up as opposed to how long something takes to do so. One we call cost of living the other inflation dependent on the time it takes to increase.

You're trying to equalize two things in price, while ignoring the components that drove the price. Only focusing on price over time, is naive in my opnion.

You may have any opinion you wish.
You are missing my point however.

Not always. If people become accustomed to the higher price, there’s not much incentive to lower prices.
Exactly. They would have to stop purchasing.
Interesting to see what will happen to eggs if so, bird flu or not.

Ah...now we get to the part of the economics course where substitutions come into play.

Nobody will get use to a higher price when a substitute comes along. Coca cola found that out with house brands.

Prices are not static, nor is market share a guarantee.

Not true. If tariffs raise the price by 25%, that product has seen 25% inflation. If this occurs to many products, the overall inflation rate increases. Econ 101.

So if canadian lumber goes up by 25%...that makes US lumber 25% cheaper...

Again, subsitutation.

buckle up, we live in strange times., we'll see who benefits from tariffs in the years ahead, whether for the
select few or good of consumers at large.... to me, our kids are of greatest concern, not us old tractor operators
