Good Morning!!!! 49F @ 7:30AM. Cloudy with periods of rain. High 57F. Winds ESE at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 100%. 2 to 3 inches of rain expected. Localized flooding is possible.
The 10-day is calling for rain through Thanksgiving. If this atmospheric river makes its way to the east coast, your drought worries will be pretty much taken care of.
The rain gutters are full to overflowing, probably corked up with pine needles. I see a rain slicker and wet ladder in my near future.
Took a looooooong time to get caught up this morning!
Later DIL got a call from her mother that her grandfather fell asleep and slumped over in the car on the way home, he actually passed away.
I’ve got to say, that’s the way I want to go.
Nice he had a mercifully quick death, but I hope no one else on the road was hurt.
Glad you found your wallet, Bruce, but sorry it was after you'd cancelled the CCs. Last one I lost showed up in the mail a week later, several hundred bux lighter and after I'd already canceled the CCs. Whoever sent it was still a thief in my book.
Sorry for your loss, Happy.
Nice truck, David. Sounds like you got the deal you wanted. Last year with low supply there wasn't much bargaining to be had, but that CarEdge.com website helped to find vehicles that fit my requirements, one of which had been on dealer's lot for over six months, leading to a significant discount. All of which got eaten up by unwanted but nice options. In both cases I listened patiently to the finance officers spiel and politely declined every one, watching as the smoke coming out of their ears and the red in their faces steadily increased.
final consideration is how much discount do I demand as a bottom line off new truck msrp.
Discounts on trucks are increasing as inventories pile up.
have no idea how that translates to ordered vehicle pricing, will sure find out.
You'll get the most discount on a vehicle that is in low demand, i.e. has been parked soaking up stocking fees on the dealer's lot. That caredge.com link has tools that will let you look at dealer inventories and age of vehicles. Once you narrow down the options you want, it will search your area of interest for that vehicle, and tell you how many of them have been sold, so you get a feel for the demand. It will give you the VIN for a vehicle you're interested in, and you can use it to get a copy of the Monroney sheet that lists all the standard and optional features and other vehicle details like colors and prices. You can try just googling the VIN, but more likely you'll need to go to google the manufacturer's website to find their link for displaying the Monroney. Out here, I'm hearing of big discounts on 2024 RAM pickups, up to $20K off according to some radio ads I heard yesterday. Buy at the end of the month for even more discounts when dealers are trying to make their sales quota. Good luck with your search!
I’m still tinkering with the hot water recirculation.
Thanks for sharing this, Paul. Hot water delivery to the faucets at the place down south is abysmally slow, and water ridiculously expensive, so I need to find a fix. Anything any of you can do to get me pointed in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.
Didn't hit rain until I got to Sacramento yesterday, and had something of a tailwind all the way. 41.8 average MPG for the trip, not bad for an ICE Camry, and more than twice what the van gets. Skipped one gas stop and at a higher average speed also saved almost an hour. Lost it all in the driveway catching up with a new friend on the phone though.
I usually drive the freeways at 5 over the posted limit, but yesterday I kept getting tailgated, even in the slow lane. It seems the holidaze are already bringing out the a$$hats.
61F inside the house when I arrived, but after a couple hours the wood stove had it up to 71F. The hot stove held pretty good overnight, it's still 69F now.
I hope today I'll finally figure out the two circuits for the overhead lights in the great room. One has two switches, the other has three. Very confusing.
Also need to spend some phone time with a benefits consultant for a new Medicare plan D, and find out why the dental plan was dropped. Big changes in not a good way for 2025.
