You Know You Are Old When

You're old if you have things made of gutta percha or bakelite.

What is gutta percha?

I wanted to move the York rake by hand this afternoon. It's the type with real trailer wheels and a draw bar frame, not 3 point. I grabbed hold and gave a lift, NADA! I had to hunker down and get everything I have in order. Two years ago I could have done it.

must be getting old.

What gets me is that I got a truck bed load of some PT 4x4's at a REALLY good price preCovid and they have gained weight.

How is it when you work for a living and work towards retirement everyone says.
"When I retire I'm going to sleep until noon everyday", then you retire and get up at 7 AM everyday?

That would be nice. I'm a morning person, I tend to get up when daylight comes up in the summer when the sun starts to peep through the blinds, about 0530. Even during the winter. Then stay up to the Late Show.

Some people do that
Get out of bed and retire to their recliner. Before you know it they're leaving in the back of a long black limo.

Other people retire and start doing things they've always dreamed of. A year later they are wondering how they ever got anything done while also working full time.

Keep busy so you don't sit around wondering what the purpose of living is.
Obviously the purpose is to post on TBN!

We're bats. Bed at 1-2a.m. & up 8:30-9 am
Almost never ever nap.

Because when you retire, you can go to bed at 9 PM, no kids or work keeping you up.

I haven't been in a class room in 40 years and still have the panic attack dream of being unready for a surprise test/exam or late handing in an essay.

I have been retired for 8 years and still regularly dream about being at work, work-related functions or people I worked with on a regular basis (like several times a week).

I spread my college and grad school out over 14 years, since I was working full-time through most of it, paying my own way.
Anyway, the result of that decade and a half of constant exam and project stress is that I had that dream pretty regularly, well into my 40’s.

My personal version was that I was running around campus, trying to find the exam room for a class I never attended.
