Good Morning,
Vt, 50 to start going to 74 ! Another beautiful clear day with temps way above normal !

Lou, I haven’t seen that yet and when I click on your link all I see is a blank page !

Ordered new tires for the Tundra...need good traction for all the snow we're gonna get this winter.
Wngsprd, I am on my second set of BF Goodrich all terrain. Aggressive tread design for snow but without the road noise , on my 2017 F150. They are expensive but worth the cost IMO !

Mostly, Kathleen said she was feeling a little better yesterday, so will see how she is doing when she gets up !

I can’t get over these temps for this time of year !

Dennis, sounds like a fantastic trip that your planning, I will be very interested on how the costs break down between camper vs car ! I would think that if gas stays low then camper might be the ticket !

More shop time on the agenda for today, making some progress on the arms, but it is a bit tricky! Going slow, really trying to keep the mistakes to a minimum!

Hope all have a blessed and safe day ! 🙏

Mostly, Pals is drive thru only.

I did notice a lot of flies outside of that bedroom on the siding. Not sure why so many outside on the siding, and not at other windows.

Fun trip to plan. Taking the truck is 10 mpg vs 30 mpg. for 7550 miles (I cut out Glacier and TX) at $4 per gallon it's $1000 vs $3000 to take the truck, so 2k more to haul the camper. Now to price out an average camp site versus hotel. Right now for estimate purposes I chose $200 night average for a hotel. Should be able to beat that. We do not want to go in summer, we prefer sept - oct, which can make yellowstone and northern items interesting. could go spring, but then the northern stuff might still be snowed in. want to avoid the main tourist season.

If I can average $150 night for hotels it will beat taking the camper, cause at $50 a night for camping that will add another 1k to the truck cost.

In canada I've been in BC, AL and ON, but did not drive, I was a passenger.

The problem with National parks now, is they are so crowded there are lottery systems just to get in some. Would hate to got up to glacier, then find out I can't get in .. Also want to visit canyon land and arches in Utah.
One thing we noticed last month on our trip to TN from ID is we really would rather travel with our own Bed and meals rather than eating out all the time! Not to mention having your own rest room behind you! We used to motel all the time not so much now with an RV.

good morning, 51 going to 78 warmer today

Had switched earlier to heat on the tractor by getting under the seat to move the lever now that the actuator is caput. May have to switch back to allow AC

Picking up groceries. Wife is making a scrimp dish today and preparing for a duck breast dish

D is back up after being knocked out for a couple of days with colitis. The agenda around Kyoto is suffering a bit but she did send a short clip from a beautiful shrine

Really like the new Michelin all terain tires on the van. However not cheap

I have been in all the Canadian Provinces except Nunavut, Newfoundland and the Northwest Territories. Except for a trip to Cape Breton Island (an island off the coast of Nova Scotia and a part of NS.) I have never been off the continent.
I've been to all the US states (flew to HI and AK).
My first transcontinental trip (1973 IIRC) I hitch hiked from Vermont to Ohio (along with two other guys). Then we got a ride with a one eyed trucker. Our sign simply said West. He took us back to New York to unload, then we went the southern route along I10 to San Diego. I then went up to San Francisco, back down to San Diego, over to Las Vegas (to visit a relative). Then back to Vermont.
What a long strange trip it was.

Back in ~ 1994 I tried to drive to France from Washington, DC. Took the wife, 4 children (ages 6 to 18) in a Maxivan and a minivan and did a "beach trip". Drove down to Va. beach, then just 'touristed" north along the beaches. We were headed, ultimately, for Saint Pierre and Miquelon, France.
The only French territory in North America is Saint-Pierre and Miquelon, an archipelago of islands located in the northwest Atlantic Ocean, south of Newfoundland
Excellent trip, raced the tide at the Bay of Fundy, saw whales in Maine. But suffered a mutiny before we got on the ferry to Newfoundland. Every one else wanted to go home.

RNG you are never going to run out of tunes, that's quite a collection.
Thanks Buppies. Headed to Salem this morning, will go to Walmart first to get some tylenol and my last batch of chopped fruit for breakfast.
hard to believe I'll be home day after tomorrow.
I'm ready for my leaves, though I bet lawn guys have it all cleaned up.

45 degrees in Blountville TN in Rocky Top Campground.

Buckeye, that trip sounds wonderful. Sounds like all the best of the West.
if you aren't sure about your camper tires, factor in cost of a new set of tires before you leave on a long trip in the mountains like that.
How's rocky top campground Drew? That's a nice area, one I consider retiring to.
New camper tires last year, goodyear endurance.
What's the average price for a campground?
I'm pretty sure I won't be taking the camper. If I can get hotels to average $150 a night or if campground average is above $50 a night, then it's cheaper to drive the car and stay at hotels. Plus driving the car is so much easier. Yes, you do have to take the bags in and out every day, but you also don't have to set up and tear down the camper every day, which is a lot more work. Even if driving is slightly more, just not pulling a camper that far is worth it.

today marks another year around the sun for me. Yesterday my mom would have turned 100, but made it to 91. Can't believe she's been gone over 8 yrs already.

Morning all, 51 going to 85! sunny and dry.
Spoke to dad last night, he is not eating, at all....
Heard they just laid off a ton of people at work....

Paul/Popgadget - great news on the home. Wow that was quick and it looks great.

BEF - sounds like a great itinerary, we have not seen a lot of the North and west like the dakotas, Yellowstone and that area. So looking forward to pics and notes.
Happy Birthday !

All these trips sound so good, we have quite a few states like Alaska to hit. We wanted to do Europe/Asia and middle east while younger and able to handle some risk, and both having traveling jobs allowed us to do this. I have been to a lot of states, but with 50 to chose from, plenty left to do.

M7040 - hope D is feeling good enough to see more of Kyoto and Japan.

Be well,

Now that's a spider.

When I retired in 2004 thought it would be great to stay in motels while traveling. It was convenient. But eating out got expensive. After catching some kind illness twice in 2006. Started looking for a RV. Bought a 35’ super C. No more sickness. Plus as you have stated the convenience of having your home with you. One thing I did different than Drew. I flat towed a car where ever I went. I purchased Golden Age Passport which gives free access to National parks and 1/2 off for camping. Stayed in some very nice Corp Of Engineers parks. When I bought it was $10. Today I believe it is $80.

It is a PITA to digitize vinyl. I have done it a few times with Audacity. It takes about 5 times longer then just putting the album on and you lose sound quality!
I digitize albums by buying the CD. :ROFLMAO: I still have most of my albums on cassette tape though, but haven't played a tape in years. probably haven't played an album in years. Most of my albums have been played few times, I'd record to tape then play the tape.
years ago someone gave me a large quantity of CD's of mostly 70s rock. I put them on a little USB stick, and we listen to them in the car. I also put them on my NAS, along with pictures and videos, but we just never use the NAS. My wife prefers to throw on a CD, I have a lot of music on my Iphone. That and bluetooth headphones when I mow..
