there are brake draggers and brake tappers.
the latter drive me nuts, because it's monkey see monkey do
one taps brakes because they are following too close, then others to
"just in case" .

lady next to me said they hardly use their brakes, rely on tow haul and engine to slow them down. Without paddle shifters, not sure how well that works

I've always felt the best drivers use their brakes the least and good drivers anticipate traffic flow instead of driving fast up to last car and then have to brake hard
Anyone who has driven a big truck knows this

am very happy to be in slow lane

At first I thought might have rabies. But after a while ( couple months) I figured it must be something else as he was living too long for it to be rabies.
A skunk was stinking things up around the neighborhood.
Man was it bad when he walked by.
I had trepidations about leaving windows open. When he walked by...
Smelled him many times but he was like Houdini. I'd go out with the gun and light and he'd be nowhere to be seen.
Finally saw in him in daylight. Big fella.
He had been injured and had a bad limp. Probably why he was out and aboot outside regular skunk hours. Being grub eaters I doubt he could dig at all and was probably hungry.
He had gone to check my scraps pile by the compost heap.
Finally got him.
Looking up close I think he must have been clipped by a car.
Generally I leave the wild critters alone. Well maybe not mice and tree rats, but the rest are just trying to make a living.
But this guy was obviously hurting and stinking up the hood.
Too late to bury him yesterday evening.
Warm enough to leave windows open over night but he stunk up my backyard too much. He's out about 150' from the house and is still overwhelming.
Sunup shortly so I'll start up the MF GC and dig him a little grave.
Felt bad for him but there was no living with his smell.

Starting out around 60 going into the 70s with possible humidex adding to the feel.
Sunshine.
Great day to get something done after the funeral🦨

Good morning, the low is 49 and going to a high of 73°F. Wind SW 6 mph. Sunny.

Today I will get both remotes working for the block heaters. I have a set of cheap LED Christmas lights attached to the same remote as the block heater, when those lights are on then I know the block heater is getting juice.

Other than proving the block heater works I am all set for winter. Side panels on the tractor and the winter front cut, just not on yet. Amazon boxes work good for that. BH off and BB on. I don't have to put the chains on, I never take them off.

BEF, flys don't like the smell of lavender. I use lavender essential oil in a diffuser with water. As well as the alcohol/water/Dawn spray. Something that works REALLY good on them but is really nasty on your lungs is Pyrethrin. Raid mosquito and fly killer, it is nasty for the pets, too.

I think my pet peeve on the road is people that don't want to do the speed I want to, but they don't want to be behind the truck. Even though they will only be behind the truck for about 5 minutes then the truck will be gone and they can dawdle along at their chosen speed. We have a lot of passing lanes on the smaller roads (not the freeways) and I'll catch up to a slower car and swing out to pass them and they will speed up. Get that a lot with the 'new Canadian' truck drivers. They will race you to the end of the passing lane (their lane ends), then expect you to slow down to their speed to let them back into the main lane. Fat chance. Don't forget I am 85' long. I get my lead trailer beside your cab, I am NOT slowing down to let you back in and if you don't slow down to the dawdle speed you were doing, then you WILL go off the road. I will move into the oncoming lane if I can to let them in, BUT I will not slow down to their poking along speed. I run a steady 14 kms (about 10 mph) over the limit EXCEPT in towns where there is a reduced speed limit, there I am doing the limit or less depending on traffic. The cops don't even blink. 16 kms over the limit costs you money AND points 3 of them. 14 kms is only money, zero points.

Have a safe day all

Good Morning
45° under a clear sky, forecast high is 77. Good weather to get grass to grow, except that it’s so dry that irrigation is mandatory.

Yesterday I made up all the speaker cables for the AV equipment in the old folks home, when I went to plug them into the wall plates, I was quite annoyed, as the spacing on them wouldn’t accept the dual banana plugs. What were they thinking?!!
I ordered new wall plates, but in the meantime I removed the plugs from one end of the cables and connected the wires to the binding posts so I could continue setting everything up.

I think that I came to a bit of an epiphany while thinking about media storage. I have an extensive music collection, at least 500 vinyl albums and several hundred CD’s. Also a good, but vintage Thorens turntable, as I’m a recovered audiophile. This all takes up a lot of room, and with the installed speakers, it sounds good, not great like the system in the house (that doesn’t get used much).
While setting everything up, I downloaded the Spotify app to see what was available, and was astounded. I don’t think that there is anything in my library that wasn’t available to stream, and I have broad and eclectic taste when it comes to music.
So the bottom line is I don’t think I’m going to bring any records, CD’s or turntable into the old folks home. Just a Denon AVR and Blueray player for just in case, but even that might be superfluous.
My wife and I signed up for the 2 month free trial of Spotify premium to see how it goes, I keeping the old gear and all the media regardless, just likely won’t move it into the OFH.

Don’t know why this just dawned on me, my new Prius has the premium JBL sound system, and that doesn’t include a CD player, just regular radio or streaming via XM or USB media. We cut the cable and stream our TV, so this is just a natural progression I guess.

What are you all doing for music?

Good Morning,
Vt, 46 to start going to 70 ! Uncanny warm weather for later October! Grass seems to finally stopped growing!

Kathleen came down with some type of sickness yesterday and today she is pretty sure she has Covid ! Our youngest son stopped by to visit with Riley our grand pup the night before we left for Vt and he didn’t know it at the time but he had Covid, so now she is sick ! Hope I don’t get it !

Hope to get some shop time in today ! Would like to make some progress on the arms for the rockers.

This afternoon I may bring my mower over to the barn and lift it up with the tractor to remove and sharpen the blades !

Are there some places around you for wax-oil or fluid film under treatment
Lou, last year I had my F150 undercoated last fall with Woolwax, they sprayed everything including inside body panels etc ! Supposed to protect from rust and corrosion, so we will see !

Hope all have a good start to their week ! 🙏

I'm most certainly not an autophile, I have a few records and several CD's.
Most of what I listen to these days is Sirus XM in the truck and Pandora in other places and a bit of FM in the tractors with radios or Pandora.

Good Morning Paul,
What are you all doing for music?
We aren’t nearly as fussy as you but we have an Echo Dot and just verbally tell her what we want to hear ! It satisfies our listening pleasure ! Last night it was Dean Martin , one of my favorites! 😉😀

I had my 15 RAM done with Waxoly when it was new and it looked great underneath when I traded it, I failed to get my 19 done when I got it and it is showing a bit of under carriage rust. We did my wifes 18 Compass when it was new and it still looks great under it.
