Yanmar YM1401 and YM135
I was given a YM135 that runs but I'm working on it. It needs some help. I need a new seat for it and an air filter and radiator cap that actually fits it. The 3 point hitch is gone too so I'm looking for those parts.

With that said, I now have the opportunity to get a YM1401 with a RS1205 tiller. It's what I'm learning is a 2 point hitch. When you attach it, you take off the 3 point hitch and there is what I would call a cradle with holes in it and then the two arms that go to the lift arms. Are there pins that are supposed to go on the bottom of it? there are holes in the tractor and holes at the bottom but the guy doesn't have pins for it and was curious if it is supposed to because I can't find any diagrams, parts or anything else for the tiller. I stumbled upon your site here and am asking here.

I also believe the 1401 takes the same air filter as the YM135 and just curious what everyone uses?

The 1401 looks nice, it runs well but I'm leery of it and the RS1205 if I can't find parts for it. It also comes with a 4' bush hog and a 5' finish mower and a blade. I also have found a Kubota L2000 for cheaper but i really like that tiller.

Allstatesag has the parts you will need, at least most of them. Not sure if there are alternate filters out there for our machines.

Note that the 2-point tiller is semi-permanent. It stays on for the life of the tractor in their native Japan.

I think this means it would be a PIA to mount only occasionally, if using 3-point attachments the rest of the year. Does it include its special driveshaft?

It also comes with a 4' bush hog and a 5' finish mower and a blade.

3-point I assume? I would buy it for those, and get the kit ($200??) to put 3-point arms on the tractor. Plus a driveshaft, another $150?? Note also, 3-point arms come in various lengths and you want whatever was standard for your tractor, not the longer arms needed to clear the tires on a bigger tractor.

Summary, find the costs to get everything working as it should. You might have a bargain there, might not.

how does the tiller attach? it has the two points at the top of the tiller but does the bottom have pins? That's what I don't know. I can't find a manual if it needs lower pins then where can they be found. It has the driveshaft. honestly, taking the 2 point on and off takes about 10 minutes. I can't believe people think it's a problem. For people that change attachments all the time, this is pretty easy. Just need to know if it needs the lower what I would assume pins of some kind.

Might watch this video.

Thanks for the video. Now the questions is where can anyone find those lower pins for a 2 point tiller? I have the upper but now lower.

Looks like you've found the reason why the 2-point tiller isn't supported by parts houses in the US. Nobody (?) runs them here. You have a 'unicorn', something unusual.

I think most would advise you to just add the 3-point kit to get that tractor into standard configuration. Unless you are a specialty rototilling contractor or something, which is how that semi-permanent tiller is used in Japan.

Most people want the convenience of how easy it is to swap implements using the the 3-point. And check out a quick hitch to make using the 3-point even simpler. HF's is the least expensive of the many brands that are all identical except the decals.

If you can't find the pins easily, I would make the pins. You might try a place such as McMaster Carr or Grainger for the right size material. I've bought a fair amount of metric rods off of Amazon recently.

I suspect that the two point rototiller will be pretty amazing when you get it running.

All the best,

Peter
