Remember the Shely Dakota convertible? Google doesn't show a convertible, Shelby Dakota, but I have seen one in Keystone Heights FLa. Might be modified?
Yep the Dakota Shelby convertibles were a low production. I’m a big Mopar fan but they never thrilled me.

SRT-10 was a nice concept, in fact I got it in my head to buy one at one point, until I learned they were only available in 2wd. Around here, and for what I do with them, a 2wd truck is as useless as teets on a bull.

As to the AWD Charger being rare? Not around here. Very common configuration, in fact it's the standard State Police car, in these parts. I see a few everyday. I do wish SRT did an AWD with at least the 6.4L. I had heard they had issues with breaking parts behind that much horsepower, but I'm pretty sure I've seen some 6.4L AWD cars (essentially AWD Scat Pak) with light bars on them, so I'm not sure what the story was there.

The 5.7L Hemi Durango is okay, my wife uses one as a kid hauler, the R/T Blacktop edition. I had arranged to buy an SRT version for her, but since she had a 4-hour round trip commute to work at the time, she was arguing for better gas mileage. :ROFLMAO: In reality, the car has such crappy handling and is so dangerous at any speed, that it'd be wasted on that chassis. It's a beautiful car, but I'm not a fan of actually driving it.

Dodge, or specifically SRT, had a great run 2015 - 2023. Probably some of the best American (or NAFTA) cars ever made, IMO. But that's all over now, I worry the brand won't survive. They put all of their eggs into the "big displacement, high horsepower" basket, while everyone else was preparing for new CAFE standards.

I have a 2007 GM 3500HD SRW Dura/Ally on my bucket list, but finding one unrusted is more of a challenge than a reality.
If you find one, they want double the price because it has no rust. 😂

It's more an issue around here of finding something that is "unmolested" than rust. I don't want one that has 13.5" wide tires, 6" of squat, and 6" dual stacks, and a Banks chip, that a high school kid has used for tug of war

My FIL was a Car & truck reviewer for a nationally syndicated newspaper and he got one of those to review. I got to drive it and was blown away by its speed. It was sick.
Oh yes. For 1991 they were very respectable. In good conditions you could cox a mid to high 13 second ET @ close to 100 MPH from them bone stock. Again this was while Desert Storm was going on. They were an AWD, 4.3L TT V6, 3,500 lb truck that would scoot. They're somewhat similar to a Grand National in that they used a OHV TT V6 that modded very well, even though the GN V6 was 3.8L compared to 4.3L in the GMC Sy/Ty vehicles. IMHO the AWD and low weight is really what makes the Sonoma based Syclone and Jimmy based Typhoon stand out more than just the engine though.

75% of truck owners tow a trailer 1/year or less

70% go off road 1/year or less

35% haul something in the bed 1/year or less

Heck, kinda turns my pride a bit, but if forced too; I could probably get by with a Maverick and trailer most of the time
Yeah, i've said it before, but i tow a trailer once month, i go offroad (in the field, on dirt roads) every other week, and i bought a rubber mat in the trunk so i can take it out and pressure wash it when the smell of gear oil or chicken feed becomes too strong. And my V70 diesel still does 50mpg on my daily commute.

If you guys would get the vehicle weight based road tax (i pay 160 euro a month) and the fuel price (with excise) we get here, and 40% excise on the purchase price of new cars overnight, there would be riots all over the country 😏

And if we got your fuel prices, road tax, and absence of excise on the price of new vehicles, i know for sure that a lot more 4x4 pickups would be sold here !

But i get the same remarks "you dont have a family, why would you need a large family car" from people who want a brand new hybrid every 6 years. I drive 15 year old vehicles till they are not worth repairing anymore: My environmental footprint is lower than yours: Not that i really care but you do, so mind your own business please. 😉👌

We actually do have weight based road tax in addition to the regular fuel tax but it starts at 55k tagged weight and above.
