So basically, if you want to buy a TYM you now have two paint scheme options. :D

You can buy a Legacy Branson TYM as a Bad Boy and I'm pretty sure TYM still builds some machines for Mahindra, so TYM can be found in many places.

Now that said, if I purchased a Yanmar I'd expect it to be made by Yanmar.

Yep, I was interested in one of the new Yanmar SM475 until I found out it was actually a TYM. Nice looking tractor though, with the red paint, black loader and bronze rims.

TYM is a power house. They now make their own engines since buying Branson, and they make all rural king tractors, made all Cabela's tractors, all bad boy, some Mahindra, some yanmar, zetor, and maybe others.

TYM no longer has any affiliation w Mahindra.
They used to make their 25 and 26 hundred series.
I liked them because they had their hydro pedals next to each other and were smooth running.
If you were bringing these into the woods, best have some type of skid shield.

It looks like TYM builds some for Iseki and John Deere also?

No doubt and they could be great reliable tractors, but when I learned of the Yanmar SM475, I got all excited about a 75 horse, made in Japan Tractor for $54,000, with a 10 year power train warranty. That's a much better deal that I could get from the only other Japanese manufacture, Kubota.

Turns out, it was too good to be true. Painting Yanmar on the side of a TYM does not make it a Yanmar in my book. The Yanmar dealer felt the same way. He sold Yanmar tractors and had no interest in selling/supporting TYM tractors.

Once again, I'm not knocking TYM as I've never owned one. I'm just saying this whole bait and switch marketing tactic feels dishonest to me. What interests me about a Yanmar is where it's made (Japan), not the paint color.

Guess some one else is building tractors for Yanmar rather than Yanmar building them for some one else like usual. Of course they have Yanmar engines in them.

Looks like Yanmar is trying to hit the sweet spot in between the YT2 (65in wheelbase) and the YT3 (75in wheelbase). 70in wheelbase is right at Ford 8N, Kubota L3560, L4802, Kioti DK20, Massey 1800M territory.

That tractor is a beast with proven Deutz diesel engine. Made in Germany and very highly regarded.

I'm not trying to be argumentative, but I was considering a Deutz 5080D (75hp). As it turns out it was made from globally sourced parts and had a Farmall engine in it. Nothing German about it's manufacture as far as I could tell.

Maybe you're right and the Yanmar TYM has a German made Deutz engine, but I would suspect it's just a rebranded Farmall engine, just like they are putting in their own 75hp "Deutz" tractor.

Looks like the FARMotion engines are built in Turkey.

Found this as well.

Factories

After around three years of planning, Deutz-Fahr opened Europe's most modern tractor factory in 2017 in Lauingen, Germany ("DEUTZ-FAHR LAND"), about 80 miles northwest of Munich. The Deutz-Fahr 6 Series, 7 Series, 8 Series, and 9 Series tractors are manufactured in Lauingen, Germany and exported worldwide. The plant has a production capacity of 40 tractors per day, and it cost 90 million euros to construct. Deutz-Fahr manufactures its smaller tractors in Treviglio, Italy and Bandirma, Turkey

Deutz-Fahr manufactures its own engines under the Deutz brand name at its Cologne, Germany plant. Deutz-Fahr's larger tractors use Deutz engines, while smaller tractors use Farmotion engines assembled in India.

Kind of like the automotive circles when the Ford Courier was rebadged Mazda and the Chevrolet Luv rebadged Isuzu and Chevrolet Sprint a Suzuki and the Plymouth Cricket was also an import, etc… and another was a rebadged Miata… or the Mercedes G Wagon built under contract in Austria…

It’s almost the same in the world of batteries and air conditioners…

It’s about market share obtained for the least amount of capitol layout.
No one is baiting you to buy their wares and then switching you a different product.
It is a world market these days and attitudes abound about production placement.
When John Deere built their 50 series tractors made by Yanmar in the mid 80’s, you had ppl buying them because of the green paint and JD name. You had ppl not buying them because they weren’t American made.
Those are “ attitudes” that everyone is entitled to as to how they steer their lives.
Sometimes pesky reality gets in the way of feelings however.

Like baseball, you can't tell the players without a scorecard. I just bought a New Holland 25S tractor. Made by LS with a Yanmar engine, parts and service support from CNH.

You picked up a 25S? That must look cute next to your larger machine(s).

This is 3 now, right? Or am I thinking of someone else here. 🤣

I just want a quality product that is going to last. It's been my experience that globally sourced products are often inferior and I try to avoid them on big expensive purchases. To be fair I have zero experience with tractors so I'm just extrapolating.

I do think it's rather telling that most of these big name manufactures are still making their big AG tractors in their home countries.

My stance on this matter is based on past experience, not attitude, feelings or racial bias etc.

Yes, that is 3. The other 2 needed a baby brother. I replaced the Kubota F2560 mower with the 25S, needed a more rugged mower for the horse turnouts, plus the FEL bucket is like a powered wheelbarrow.
