Wow, what a total mess and some really poor route planning.
Wander what will happen to driver/company after all this.
Putting the trailer in a stuck spot isn't good, but the accident and deaths has to be at least partially on the person who made a U-turn on the ramp behind the trailer

How can you not know that the loaded dump truck you're driving exceeds the 3 ton limit? Heck, a full sized pickup with e adult passengers is overweight.

I believe we already spent about 6 pages on that subject. :ROFLMAO:
Check out Kando's "Rounded off drain plug" . I think it went for 2300 pages. While it was maddening at times, it was interesting.

.SAE J2807 (wikipedia link) provides an industry standard testing method; I can't find a free copy to read, but this motortrend article talks more about it; apparently it goes so far as to specify limits the effects on the tow vehicle's steering by the towed load - and yes, trailer brakes are assumed, though presumably the spec itself will state what the trailer braking requirements are (the wiki page mentions braking from 20mph
Interesting... the 5 times taking off on a 12% grade within 5 minutes, was part of the test protocol when we upped the GVW of VW Crafter (same as MB Sprinter yet with VW 2.5 TDI and a VW badge) from 6.3 ton to 7.5 ton.

Customer bought a new 3.5 ton single rear wheel, thinking it would have the same 7.5 ton combined weight as the old SRW. So now his dealer ordered him a truck that couldnt tow his 5th wheel. We took it to the DOT test track, performed that test (with a smelly clutch because reason for the lower GVW was they didnt make that rear axle reduction in SRW anymore) but we made it. Dealer happy, end user happy.

I had no idea that test came from an SAE protocol. I actually think it was 2006 or 7, first year the new generation Sprinter was released.

My neighbour had the same. He said when he planted that forest 25 years ago, snowfall put the trees to the ground. Then they grew back kinked so he had them chipped for energy production, they were useless for his Wood-mizer, though he planted them for timber.

Yeah thats just painful, poor bridge.

I drove across a lovely wooden covered bridge in southern PA a couple years ago in my 2500HD without even thinking about it, fully loaded with family and camping gear. Then turned around and the saw the same "3 ton MAX" load rating sign. Was probably a bit over that.

LOL! Go ahead and compare the capabilities and value of the two. I'll wait.

Now I'm not saying it isn't RIDICULOUS that truck prices have soared that much in the last 5 years. But the EV flex is laughable.

That is why I’m going to drive my 2016 F150 into the ground. It only has about 100,000 miles so far, so I’m doing well.

My son in law tried to fit some 16ft lumber in his truck with a 6.5ft bed yesterday. Didn't work out well.

I ran down with the trailer and hauled them to his house

LOL - I loaded 16 foot stuff in my F150 with a 5.5 foot bed all the time. I just opened the rear sliding window, and slide the board all the way in. Fits with very little overhang! I did my basement ceiling with five eights tongue and groove. Just bought all 16 foot boards, and I could pack 18 of them in at a time
