Brought home a Ruger American in 350 Legend. The Vortex scope was "mounted", but barely tight. That's okay, easy to bore site a bolt gun. I needed something with more range than my 77/44 Ruger. I couldn't find much in the "new" 400 Legend, either **** or *****s. 350 should be fine. Plus, it was on sale $100 off...

Ruger hit the ball out of the park with their American series.

My next ***** will be the Ruger American Ranch Gen 2 in 5.56. Purely as a suppressor host/fun gun when I don't feel like breaking out an AR/possible furbearer gun if I get bored.

Waiting on my dealer to call and tell me my 22/45 is in. Another suppressor host/fun gun.

Cartridge must have a straight wall, not be necked down. No 308, 30-06 etc, you can use 450 bushmaster , 45-70 Gov, etc that have a straight wall case.

As of January 2021, several states with large deer populations, including Michigan, Ohio, Iowa, and Indiana, have passed laws allowing straight-wall cartridges in areas that were previously only open to shotguns or muzzleloaders.

Thanks. I've never heard of such a rule. But I've only hunted in Louisiana, Texas and Mississippi, and Canada.

I'm with you, but I'm next door IL that has some weird hunting laws....
MO it's any centerfire during ***** and even AR pistol during alternative (I go with my smokepole)

Is there a caliber spec with that too? 30 Cal M1 is straight wall. At 7.82mm, the .3078" round has more punch than a 45 ACP used in the Thompson Machine Gun. I've never hunted anything but rattlesnake with it, but it will vaporize the head of one. A ~25' hit off my front porch with stock sights.

BUT, some states have cartridge case "length" limits too, and the 45/70 is too long, also there are some other limitations too.

BTW, I bought a new Kubota last week, but I did buy 20 pounds of potatoes from a potato farmer for 6 bucks this week...
