good morning all
warm 78 out, never really cooled off, but high of today is 80 and tonight cooler.
But I won't be here....
headed out at 9am to stop at supermarket to get some things for cooler, then to chocolate shop when they open
at 10am, to get house presents, and then off to friend's home in DE.
first, shower and shave and a thorough watering of everything outside. I have a friend coming Wednesday to water again for me.
By Thursday when I get back some stuff in pots won't have made it.
Besides my friend gets to pick some beans while she's here.
friends I am visiting today in DE are coming up for long weekend in August for our annual car show. It's a big deal here in town and a really big
car show. it was easier to treat them to a couple of nights in local B&B than try to stuff them in my small cottage. Besides I know owner of B&B and
they will be well taken care of. This way after a couple of hours walking the show I can go home and then meet them for dinner. They are hikers and walkers and will leave me in the far dust. So better they do their thing and I'll catch up with them.
packed up my old sound system, powered Klipsch The Fives, and taking them with me to DE. They my friend's son comes down from Northern NJ and gets them and takes them to cabin in Catskills their family has owned since we got out of college in 1971. Started out as decrepit hunting shack, over all this time has been fixed up and now has some electricity by way of solar, batteries and inverter. Now that AC has arrived, after all those years of lanterns, he can plug in these pretty powerful speakers that basically act as stereo receivers, every conceivable input including bluetooth, and he can finally have good tunes there. For fifty years we have listened to music on battery boom boxes. Now we will rock.
I have a long tradition of helping out at the Arkville cabin. My 1988 Honda Foreman lives there, still looking like new. I could no longer drive it, too hard on my arms, but perfect for the mountains. Sometimes the gift of giving far outweighs the cost.
I can't sleep there any more, too uncomfortable..., but was hoping to take rv up there this summer. That got cancelled when neighbor down the road decided to level home and build a new one, so my rv parking spot disappeared. Maybe next year.
this is an old pic, now has new roof and new deck
