Satoh beaver won't start

Smoking like crazy but won't hit a lick. Tried either after cool down hit irrationally. Still smoking like crazy. I'm figuring the pump is off time but unsure how to check. Ideas?

What color smoke? If it's black clean the air filter and ensure you have a clear air path from there to the intake manifold.

How old is the battery I have to ask and if old, replace it and clean the terminals and the ground strap. No flooded cell battery is forever. I renew mine every 5 years, they are considered a consumable item.
