While working in the city one day..... the fire alarm went off....somewhere in the building...close enough for me. I noticed people carrying on as usual, on my way out I inquired as to why no one was leaving....."the alarm is not on our floor".

I left the building.

Happy Birthday George. Here's a plaque regarding his 1770 journey down the Ohio River, with his Indian Guides, to scope out the west Virginia lands owed the soldiers from the French and Indian war. At thirty-eight years old Washington had finally persuaded Virginia Governor Norborne Berkeley to make good on the promise Governor Dinwiddie had made sixteen years earlier to reimburse members of the Virginia Militia with land in the Ohio Country, in recognition of their service in the French and Indian War. Washington had been appointed to administer the disposition of 200,000 acres of land “on the Great Kanhaway” to the deserving veterans

good morning 38 going to 45. rain in FC again

yesterday was infusion day for wife. She feels better this morning. It is a monthly cycle she goes through and helps her function but at the end of the month she is in a lot of pain before next infusion

did some clean up with the excavator. getting good at picking up dirt with 36 inch bucket by pushing against the blade and curling up. Not having to get down to clean or lift by hand is the goal. Back dragging the blade and using the tracks to compress and smooth out works great. Also the smaller bucket together with the thumb can pick up anything from several 1000 lbs to very small items. One thing that helps is the ability to pick up large trees without having to cut it up and swing it close to the side so it can travel between narrow rows of trees and out to an area to deal with it

Morning all! 20 going to a sunny 40. Wind is blowing now!
Wife felt good enough to venture out to the part time job today!
I need to rough clean the pellet stove and maybe do a walkabout outside to remove some branches.
I felt better earlier so went down into the shop for a couple hours.

My sister is always using the excuse:
"Yah but" You know, yah but it was raining! Yah but it was on sale! Yah but it was blue! Yah but etc. etc.
One day I looked at her and said: What's a yabut? Are they little creatures that jump in the woods? Now it's a running joke every time she says it!
Today I caught one in the shop! I will surprise her hopefully this weekend.

That's it for now. I hear another coffee calling!
Hope everyone stays safe and healthy!

good story Phil.
nice breakfast at Chives in Lambertville, NJ, other side of the Delaware River, and it was great.
I had a lamb egg sandwich that was awesome.

went foodshopping, now back to play with plants until my school board finance meeting later this afternoon.

my scheduled "disrobing" of the rv will not go on Saturday, still too much snow up on top of rv.
pushed back to following weekend. we have warmer weather by then which I hope will get rid of it.
there is still almost a foot of snow sitting on the shade side of my garage.

Just a cream colored door from the salvage yard. The wreck: My Sr year of HS basketball, The bus taking us to a basketball game broke down along I77 heading south. Was in the middle of a big snowstorm. The bus was parked at a gas station at one of the exits. Eventually we never made it to the game, and the game was cancelled. My parents picked me up from the bus on their way home, and we were traveling north on I77 when a car came across the medium from the SB side and hit us right at the back axle. There were 4 people in the back seat, including me. Due to the roads being nothing but ICE, we spun like a top. Fortunately no one was near us from behind to cause any more excitement. We ended up able to drive the car home. This became my car for 3 years of college. We drove it with a cream colored door for about 2 years before I painted it.

Good Morning
22° with a high in the upper forty’s and rain moving in.

Yesterday was pretty much a day in the shop. Spent a batch of time doing reports for the FAA and TSA. While I was at the computer, I noticed that the air compressor cycled a couple of times, and there was no demand for air. So I was off to find the leak(s).

I use a device that listens for the high frequency turbulence of a leak, and shifts the frequency down to where you can hear it. It works very well, I use it for refrigerant, air, nitrogen and oxygen.
At any rate the condensate drain and the swivel on the hose reel were the offenders.

The swivel was easily fixed by disassembling it, replacing the O rings, cleaning and lubing with silicone grease.

I replaced the petcock drain with a ball valve a nd a hose to put the condensate in a container.

Here is a plot of where Bose focuses their active noise cancelation, other mfrs will vary.

Just came back from breakfast with the wife and professor, dropped her aged RAV4 off a a friend’s shop to see if it makes sense to replace the rotten rear suspension and fix a recent transmission leak.
The alternative is pony up for a new one, which we are not excited about, but realize it’s inevitable.

Got my drawings back from the architect, he took my drawing and promptly made changes that raised the square footage to more than my variance allows. I wish people would listen. I engaged him for a design review and to produce stamped, permit ready plans from my drawings. The worst part is that I like what he did. Now I have to figure out where I can loose the square footage that he gained.

That’s all that’s planned for today, hopefully car shopping doesn’t get added to the list.

Drew - what are Lamb Eggs?

Microsoft Teams now has the ability to "learn" your voice and isolate all noise in a call that is not your voice. So if someone where to talk to you while on a call, no one would hear them.
Not sure if this is cool or getting into the creepy mode of learning.

Good afternoon !

No big changes in weather, just a bit warmer.

At morning I had some issues with TBN, so instead of browsing internet I turned myself into work. 😁 Was rather productive 😁

Assembled long waited monitor arm. Now I can adjust that huge thing more for my liking. I have those "progressive" glasses, and to see properly had to raise head quite a lot. I think because of that now I have neck pain.

Hope this new setup will work better for me

You were sharing your workstations, so here is mine (with TBN open ):

Really like that setup. Just one type C cable from m-book to monitor. Trough that goes everything - power, video, audio. Still have wired keyboard. It refuses to give up, 100 % functional, so I am not changing it.

Coming back to tractor things. Have agreed to bring my tractor to regular service. 250 h already. Forecast says, next week T will be positive (C), so dismantled snow blade and broom. My guy on his way to office picked trailer from Yanmar dealer . I loaded tractor, chained it and sent my precious tractor for some love. On the way, one last pic for sweet memories:

That green one is my service van. Renault Traffic. I guess, those french are not a thing in US either ?

Dealer sent me pic - tractor arrived well
They will take care on offloading

Nice to have dealer in the same city, not like my Tesla story 😁
nonono, I am not crying about Tesla. ok, maybe a little bit ;)

Have a nice evening !

All installed Also got the rebuilt starter installed. Just a few more connections at the engine and reinstall the external pieces and should be ready to fire up 🤞

Hosting H&F this afternoon. Chicken curry on the menu.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

It's creepy.

Anything going into or around a "computer" is suspect for capture. There needs to be consent as to how that capture is being undertaken and more importantly where it is stored.

Helo, have you tried checking the fuses and circuit breakers? Especially if the blower wont blow.

Fan is blowing, heater wont heat. There are quite sophisticated self diagnosis sys in Tesla. It points to heater. And a lot of folks have had the same story

Helo, got love Corten Steel and the rusty look. It won me my first Lump Sum project. Competion used stainless but exploring Corten steels ability to withstand 900 F won the project

Yeah, that is quite a material. Mechanically very strong.
Here I will have Corten / Cortex purely for show off reasons. ;) Kinda dumb. But why not 😁

I forgot to take my sound reducing headphones on this trip, and probably why I have a buzz in my head now.
when I wear those noise cancelling headphones, not only prevents the buzz but makes the car, and primarily the rv,
much more comfortable on long trips. Around town I don't bother. It's the constant rotational road noise, the whine you hear
driving on concrete, that these phones totally dial out. I can listen to my car stereo at same time and hear the music.
I'm sure the highs are muffled but it's very listenable. The Volvo has a good B&O stereo in it and cranked up it is surprisingly
good, for a guy with bad hearing. :cautious:
I also find them a must while mowing. Not just less noise, the irritating part of it simply eliminated.
pilots have been using this for a long time.

I've tried the 70 dollar ones from Amazon, and for mowing
the lawn they are wonderful. But there really is a difference wearing my Sony or I'm sure a Bose. And my Sony was only a mid level model.
What you want is the good sounds coming
through, not the bad sounds. Involves a number of built in microphones sampling the noise and then it does its electronic voodoo.
I think it's more than just a filter, think it involves some kind of white noise injected to mask the bad noise.
Most importantly, and I've tested this, I can hear sirens just fine. Sirens warble, they aren't steady state noise.
So somehow the electronics figures that out and doesn't suppress it that much. A lot better than hearing a siren though loud rock music
playing. Which I don't listen to...silence can be a real luxury.

time to go fiddle with plants

I am Sennheiser brand loyalist. Momentum. Got new ones only because daughter confiscated my old ones. Really great headphones. Comfy, works great. 10/10

First time I see such thing. Should get one.

At some factories we got a complaints - our machine is leaking air. My technician goes there, wait till launch break, empty, silent hall. Takes off mufflers. Immediately arrives safety inspector.
- Any person in production area has to wear mufflers all the time.
- Mine liebe frau ... We are not doing this for fun, we are chasing leak.
- No exemptions. Put back mufflers or leave ...

Technical director couldn't reason her 🤯

The Accutrak is a very good tool. It sounds like you have a perfect application for it if it’s available in your country.

I have Sennheiser headphones in the studio, also use their electronics for in ear monitors to play with band.

decided leaving my wife's email as is, offers no incentive to change it. So she is now on the free one, and I was able to cut my price in half with all old domain emails coming to me. I then set up an automatic forward, so those to her are automatically forwarded back to her from my account, all without me having to pay for a 2 person business license. That just cut cost of keeping my old domain name in half. Now to start weaning both of us off the old domain name, and go strictly free email. Right now i'm only signed up for a month of keeping the old domain, but it will probably take a little longer.
cl0udy overcast day out. lots of coughing today. seems that now the antibiotic is done, I'm getting more stuff in the chest. Nothing serious, but will have to pay attention.
