I believe they have no natural resources used in steel production.

Yes - I believe you are correct. They use none of their natural resources. That is what I was trying to say.

Japan imports over $15 billion of iron ore used in steel production. They are the #2 importer of iron ore in the world.

Maybe someday we will come back to our senses and start making lots of things here again, railroads will expand their presence, and more jobs making critical goods, like steel, will return to improve our national & economic security.

But I kinda doubt it.

One of the reasons they wanted to expand their empire before WWII. But, that's in the past.

At least they have those bullet trains...

😆

There are high speed trains all over europe and asia.
Still waiting for a true high speed train here.
Acela has to go slow for most of it's trip.

The bullet train in Japan is relatively inexpensive compared to Amtrak.
And it's clean and on time, and comfortable.

I rode the bullet trains all over France. Makes you darn near cry when you see the junk we ride in here.
That bullet train flys.

You must know they run engineer free ore trains in Australia?
They're run here too, I think. I'm no expert, but I've seen warning signs at train yards warning about "unoccupied" switching locomotives, or something similar.

"employees must not ride on platforms or walkways and must not ride on steps when coupling"

What does that leave as acceptable locations?
