We give detailed last mile instruction for haulers to reach the farm but most use GPS and few listen.

Any normal vehicle and trucks no problem with GPS...

Problem is when a conventional with a 45' trailer takes the GPS route it's not possible to make the last turn so they have to blindly back out to the county road and all traffic stops plus every year some driver with limited comprehension takes out a street sign or neighboring mailboxes...

Why professional drivers would rely on a computer over actual onsite direction is beyond me.

Google didn't even acknowledge that this place existed. I entered the location on their edit page. Then they acknowledged that there is a house here but gave directions to use Pilot road below the house. Now, they finally have the directions mostly right, except they try to route people through a neighbor's driveway and pasture and up a 15% gravel grade, instead of the actual road, Warn, which is about 100 yards further up the county road. Like you I have to include directions not to follow Google maps phone app instructions. However, they depend on a GPS device or Google.

My wife, who has always been rather tidy, has ceased putting anything back after using it. Its an odd personality change in her. I make her a cup of tea every morning. All these cups collect at her upstairs computer desk.

I encountered another of my pet peeves today, when the DOB in the car ahead of me in the bank drive-through lane waited until she was at the kiosk to make out her deposit slip or whatever paperwork she was fiddling with for several minutes. What really pissed me off was that she had waited behind another car that was in line ahead of her. UUUGGGHHH!
I couldn't back up and change lanes because an older lady had somehow driven her car up and over straddling the concrete island between the lanes and was stuck there.

Today was a big pet peeve. I'm in a check out line... the guy in-front of me thought that the item he was buying was on sale in a recent flyer. It was not, he must have remembered an older flyer. Yet, he and the poor clerk involved, went page by page in a 12 page flyer looking for this discount........ AT THE CHECK OUT. I just had to start laughing, cause it was like some sort of Monty Python skit playing out in front of me.

I ordered my truck in 1990 with manual hubs because I'd heard that some auto hubs were unreliable. I've had to replace one hub years ago and don't know of anybody that had replaced any auto hubs. So sometimes progress isn't bad?????

I had three auto hubs fail in less than five years, on my 1995 Chevy 1500. According to a mechanic buddy at the time, they were a common failure.

But I had zero failures on my 2005 , and so far on my 2015 pickups, both various flavors of Daimler-Dodge/Ram. So either the tech has improved, or it was just a Chevy thing. Only buying one new pickup every 10 years, it's hard to really draw conclusions on one brand versus another, tech changes so much over the course of a decade.

Speed bumps on truck routes. Being assaulted 16 - 88 times per day massively sucks. Reason for installing speed bumps is saftey policy. Furious drivers = UNsafe drivers.

I suspect many of the auto-hub failures are due to a high axle rpm and a low wheel rpm when engaging.

Seems likely, and I bought that truck used off someone else's lease. It was clean, but who knows what a prior owner did with it. But the third failure was on my driving, and I never engaged while spinning rev's, when they were working properly.

To me, auto hubs are like rain sensitive wipers. If I can't perform the simple task of locking the hubs, or can't tell when it's raining, I have no business driving.

Agree with you on the wipers. Plus, not everyone has the same level of (in)tolerance of a few drops on the windshield. As far as the hubs go, I like the ability to in and out of 4WD without having to get out of the vehicle to do so.

My wife is quite fussy about tidiness around the house, but when it comes to tools (especially gardening tools) it's a different story. Left out with the justification that she's "not finished with it", even though it may be days or even weeks before she gets back to it.
And don't even get me going on her inability to use the right tool for a given job.
