It's all about the Dealer and your negotiating skills. Ford I agree is priced higher (They have been the Truck leader for over 50 years, so no surprise) but I have always been able to get equal Ford or Ram trucks to within about $500-1000 of each other.I walked out of the RAM dealer with a RAM cummins pretty loaded up and even with extended warranty, I was less than an F-550 comparably equipped.
What helps is to know the packages, You can often get a lower trim but get a package that "upgrades" to the next trim up or real close.
Our Lariat has an Ultimate Lariat package and it equips the truck the same as a Platinum trim minus the massaging seat and the $1K LED lights that I don't like or want anyway, but it was about 11K less than the Platinum.
