I walked out of the RAM dealer with a RAM cummins pretty loaded up and even with extended warranty, I was less than an F-550 comparably equipped.

It's all about the Dealer and your negotiating skills. Ford I agree is priced higher (They have been the Truck leader for over 50 years, so no surprise) but I have always been able to get equal Ford or Ram trucks to within about $500-1000 of each other.

What helps is to know the packages, You can often get a lower trim but get a package that "upgrades" to the next trim up or real close.
Our Lariat has an Ultimate Lariat package and it equips the truck the same as a Platinum trim minus the massaging seat and the $1K LED lights that I don't like or want anyway, but it was about 11K less than the Platinum.

Ram cabs aren’t removable and unnecessary for the I6 motors. 12 quarts of oil in my 5.9.

I was referring to the Cummins 6.7, due to all the emissions. Do they not remove the cab on those?

The fenders are raised along with the cab. Tell me that your powerstroke maintenance is cheap.

When I pulled a 12 valve from a 1997 Ram, I had to remove body mounts and lift the cab, no trans attached.
A diesel mechanic relative of mine jacks up the body on the Fords just enough to slide a 2x4 between and says there's then lots of room.

My old Ford is tired, with 445,000 KM on it. I don't really need heavy duty anymore so my first choice would be a new F150 Lariat supercab longbox hybrid. Not offered, can't even get it without the hybrid. Second choice is F350 Lariat supercab, longbox, SRW diesel. None to be had around here used. Seattle seems to be the closest place and that's hard to do so I think I'm stuck buying new. Hard to justify for 1500 to 2000 KM per year but it is looking like the most likely option. Then I'll get stuck with all the electronic crap I don't want. My 14 CTS-V and 18 Grand Cherokee both have keyless entry which I absolutely detest and a new truck will stick me with yet another fob. Gone are days when I had two keys in my pocket for a car and three pickups. End of rant.

This is true. I only give my experiences of owning a Ford F-550 from 2013-2020 and a RAM 5500 from 2020-2024.
So WTH would I know? LOL

As far as RAM being the “economy” choice, I defy anyone to disassemble these 2 brands of trucks and tell me what Ford component is better, cause I haven’t found one yet unless net profit to Ford being better than net profit to RAM counts.

6.7L Cummins are found in farm tractors. 6.7L Powerstrokes are not.

What maintenance requires fenders to be removed?
By the way, they don't remove fenders, they raise the cab for any significant repairs! It is actually very quick and allows so much more access.
