Drew, we are using all LED bulbs.... including the outdoor floods and spots. We also have LED "grow lights", similar color / intensity as the incandescent, but much, much cooler. The plants don't mind either.....

Dennis, there are specially made LED bulbs to be used with dimmers. We have four dimmers and the special bulbs don't flicker like the normal LED's.

Sun is out, clouds have broken up, I hope we can get a T-storm......

The LED bulb energy savings is all a farce just like so much of the "new green" is.
Yes, an incandescent bulb generates a lot of heat but in the winter time so what it will help with heating. In the summer yes you will get a bit less heating with some of the LED bulbs but not all. Then the additional cost is past any energy savings and the life is much less then advertised and promoted.
This is my opinion and that's my take on the subject. Even though most of my lights are LEDs at this time.

The flicker comes with 6 bulbs on one dimmer.
I have 2 setups like that, different LED certified dimmers.
Matching bulbs/brnads in each setup , 2 brands.
I can get them to flicker at the highest setting.
I tried 3 dimmers before I got the 2 x 14 watt Cree LEDs to stop flickering in my bathroom setup.
Crappy Capacitors, I opened a few and they are not what I would use.
Probably saved a nickel.

LED circuitry and Dimmer circuitry much more complex than anything needed for Incandescent or CFL. No real standards.

Yep, tried the angle grinder one time..... sparks everywhere, lit the paint on fire! ......exciting to say, but not when you have cut 40 panels......
You weren’t moving the grinder fast enough - you let it get too hot In One spot 😂🤣😂

75F and mostly cloudy @ 14:45, calling for a high of 77F for the day.

Got 60 sugar snap peas planted yesterday along the trellis.

Spade bit did not work too well for those as they were only supposed be planted 1/2" deep. Located one of Grandpa's old auger bits in the basement and used that instead.

Also got another packet of stringless green pod beans planted. Still 7 holes with nothing in them in that 3rd row, not counting the one spot where missed melting a hole in the weed block fabric ... ;)

Might plant some more yellow wax beans in the remaining holes.

Wished I had made those holes (the small ones) just a little larger.

After that I took a break from the gardening and mowed the east side of the house and about 1/2 of the front.

By that time I was getting hungry and there was a piece of salmon in the 'frig that I was thinking about so I fired up the grill. Woman seasoned the salmon and I grilled it with shagbark hickory chips. Turned out very good ... sure I will be looking to do it again at some point.

After letting my dinner digest a bit, I went back out and started melting more holes for strawberry plants as the winds were pretty calm. Was up to 76 holes melted for strawberries when I knocked off about dark.

Sat out there for a while and watched the bats. Usually on see a couple, last night there were around 6 - 8. Good for keeping the bugs down.

Mosquitos and deer flies have been almost nonexistent this year ... (y)

Probably finish up mowing the front yard this afternoon, maybe do the remaining areas down around the house.

Get a count on the strawberry plants, should be pretty close on the holes.

Hopper feeder still needs refilled.

Hope everyone is having a decent Tuesday ... (y)

Kyle, regarding chainsaws, our mountains suffered a really bad ice and snow storm last year and trees or limbs were all over the roads and trails. The Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive were closed, in some places for weeks. The Natural Bridge Appalachian Trail Club sent a letter to the US Interior Department asking for a 1-day exemption to use chain saws to clear the AT in their section. Just 1 day...Nope. They maintain well over 100 miles of trails, of which 90 miles is AT and much of which passes through 3 Wilderness areas. These are unpaid volunteers trying to help.
Could you use battery operated circular saws? (I'm thinking 7 1/4)
Just wondering

On the subject of cutting metal roof panels -
My favorite combo is my old HF house brand corded metal shears that create a ribbon of steel combined with my DeWalt Angle grinder with a thin blade for the occasional trouble spot.
When I was cutting up my mangled Versatube carport (collapsed due to ice load) I mostly used the DeWalt due to portability.

talk about years of notice...sale of incandescent bulbs now banned at of August 1.
these are exempted, but for sure all those left over bulbs will likely make their way to third world countries.

I would have thought flood lights would be something targeted, apparently not. And all those halogen bulbs for recessed lighting inside.
