Sounds like a good deal on the XTs, Kyle. The 225 here is an '07, and Yamaha blue. It's probably been a year since it last ran. I tried keeping the battery on a Save A Battery charger, but it still died and I haven't had the time to replace it. It also needs a clutch, and has an oil leak in that area, and I've already got the parts. Just no time to install them. Not sure how it would work in Texas, but here in CA you can apply for a lost title replacement by just filing an affidavit with the bike's history and submitting it with a bill of sale. Hope you find the trouble with the car's AC without too much drama.
What are you using to cut your roof steel, Ron? I started off with aviation snips but they hurt my hands, so switched to a saber saw. Broke a bunch of blades trying to get up and down the ridges pressed into the steel, but eventually got 'er done. Saw on one of the Alaska reality TV shows where the guy reversed the carbide blade in his hand held circular saw and also got 'er done, but that seemed too crazy to even try.
Might as well do it right, cannot take it with me. LOL.
Yep, that's getting to be my mantra as well, Mike. Everything is more expensive than it used to be, or even should be. But that doesn't remove the need.
Now that we've established the true floor space of the new house, we've decided to take the next step and have ordered a full appraisal. The house may still appraise at the asking price, and I'm fine with that. If it doesn't, though, anyone needing a loan to purchase it would be out of luck unless the sellers knock down the price, and that's about 90% of potential buyers. There's still the remaining 10%, and it only takes one with more money than sense to make a better offer should I decide to bail. The appraisal is today, so we'll know pretty quick. I spent most of the yesterday talking first with my previous realtor, then the current one, to get a better prespective on the situation. Both agree that the seller's realtor has made some pretty fundamental mistakes, but neither find anything nefarious or illegal. But because of the floor space issue, I'll get not only my deposit back, but also what I've spent on inspections and the appraisal, should the deal fall apart. Small comfort, as it's a pretty nice house.
I did manage to run my buddy's forgotten glasses over to the post office, but I wonder if he'll get them in time to use on his upcoming trip. It's gonna be close.
Touched base with the RAM van's salesman yesterday, too, asking for an update on the slush mat they still owe me, and double checking on the registration paperwork. It's been five weeks and I still don't have plates, and I'm wondering if something got dropped through the cracks.
I got clarification from an online source on where the jump starting lugs are located on the RAM van's engine. I was so immersed in the owner's manual being incorrect that I missed the obvious threaded stud sitting right in front of me, complete with a bright yellow label. Funny how the mind works, especially an older one.
Now I can rig up a wiring harness for yet another Save A Battery trickle charger, which I'll do today. Then I need to find an ignition switched lead so I can hook up a radar detector on the dash. And get a plan for mounting the amplifiers for the subwoofer and door speakers, as well as the subwoofer itself.
During all this I think I spotted a crack in the van's windshield. It's about 4" long and extending upwards from the bottom center of the glass. It's gonna be a bear to replace with all the fancy electronics glued to it at the top, and it's unlikely it's covered by insurance, but I'll have to look into it more to be sure. More lemons.
