Chainsaws are not allowed in the neighborhood FireWise cleanup so we use battery sawzalls. They cut up to an 8” branch. I think an axe would be easier than a two man saw.
I know when the hiking club does trail maintenance, they sometimes have to contend with 18”+ trees that have fallen. The last time Mrs and I went on an outing, there were several big ‘under that had been cleare (two cuts, just about the width of the trail and remove the section, leaving the rest) including one that had to be close to 30” diameter. I wouldn’t want to do that with an axe…

However you could rig that saw to Drews electric bike. Pop gadget could fix you right up.
Do they allow battery operated chainsaws?

I don’t know.

next time I see a FS worker in town (which happens fairly often) I will ask.

Good Morning!!!! 71F @ 7:00AM. A good deal of sunshine. High 99F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph.

Sounds like a good idea, Paul. Maybe give it a try this afternoon.

Thanks for the info, Scotty. Gonna keep an eye on it, fingers crossed "they all do that".
Dryer sheets are the absolute best for cleaning the scum line off hot tubs. No chemical cleaner needed.
Very timely advise, KJC. There might be a hot tub in my near future. But more on that later.
FWIW, PG&E put one of those power interrupter things on the A/C unit here years ago. To the best of my knowledge, it's never been activated.

Sounds like a good choice on the drone, Drew. I ordered the combo pack with my original Mini, but find I rarely use more than one battery per session. YMMV though. Try to resist flying it indoors. Even with the prop guards in place, it's easy to break stuff. DAMHIKT.

Once I get moved, I'll happily sell the rest of my gas powered tools. If I decide to no longer have a fireplace, that'll include the log splitter. No more yearly carb rebuilds, no more sore hands and shoulders from hard starters, no more ringing in my ears. But I still think the California ban is yet another case of government over reach.

Visitor showed up an hour early yesterday, interrupting my breakfast. Still nice to reconnect with him. I had a mutual friend on the telephone when I opened the door to let him in, so we had a nice three way conversation about happenings in the Airhead motorcycle club. The other two are both officers in it. I found out later my visitor left his glasses on the kitchen table, to today I'll get them in the mail to him. We are of an age...

Spent the rest of the day upgrading the speakers in the van. Went with Polk component speakers, small 1" tweaters and what were supposed to be 6 1/2" mid woofers that turned out to be only 6 1/4". They helped the sound some, but they really need an amp. I have one I was going to use in the VW, and will now put the effort into figuring out the mounting and wiring.

Had an appraiser go over and measure the floor space of the house that's in escrow. HIs number was pretty close to mine at only 1900 sq. ft. The listing claimed 2162 sq. ft. The realtor and I are set up to talk this morning about what to do next. I really like this house, but if it won't appraise for the asking price, we need to negotiate the price downward. But all it takes is one high roller that just sold their 3 BR/2 BA 1200 sq. ft. bungalow in L.A. for $3M to out bid my current offer...

Hope everyone's week gets off to a great start!

Why would chainsaws be banned?
First time I ran into this, a retired couple were loading up their packs to climb up The Priest...tough enough climb without the weight of cross saws, axes, etc. I asked why not use battery chain saws, like I've seen on other sections of trail. They said in the Priest Wilderness, no gas or battery tools...they had an old manual hand drill to work on the shelter, too.

Later ran across this again in the James River Face Wilderness, and Thunder Ridge Wilderness...part of being designated a Wilderness area includes no power tools...40% of Shenandoah Nat'l Park is Designated Wilderness.

Morning all, 71 going up to 83 and sunny.
Got lawn mowed, bar top sanded and another coat of varnish.
Bench sanded and another coat of varnish.
Side lawns mowed. Some weeding.
And finally got our first ripe tomatoes, had one with our dinner burritos.
Moved some furniture around and a million little things.

Somehow in all this, hurt my back and it's really bad today....

Septic company supposed to be here to pipe out the tank. Hope they show.

More ibuprofen....

Wife wants to give the dog a bath today.

Be well,

80F not a cloud in the sky. The afternoon breeze hasn't filled in yet.

I lost another wheel center cover in the last week. The roads up here can be rough in places but what I think what happens is the plastic ages then the mechanic smacks it to put it back on and goodbye cover. I'm missing 3 now. I think when I get back to Lancaster I will try a set of the Chinese knock-off center covers.

I went down to check on the boats last evening. There was the dinghy sitting there calling to me. Row me. I rowed down the coast and ran into one of the neighbors sitting on his dock admiring the sunset. We had a nice chat. A mosquito pack chased me home. I was making that boat move.

Hope things are going good.

Chris
